Signs of Eating Disorder

    About 30 million Americans live with an eating disorder. Yet many others are often hidden in plain sight. It's important to know the symptoms in those who might be at risk for an eating disorder.

    They're constantly talking about dieting.

    The discussion around changing eating habits is incredibly common. Look at any lifestyle magazine or website and you'll likely find dieting tips and advice. If someone you love is constantly talking about food or their dieting habits, it might be a sign of concern.

    Changes in mood or behaviors surrounding food or exercise can be signs of concern. This could mean a switch in activity level like overexercising, too often counting calories, frequently visiting the bathroom after eating, fasting or eating too much.

    They're constantly turning down food-centric social gatherings.

    Avoiding social interactions such as birthday parties or going out to dinner with friends is a significant danger signal. People living with the condition have an intense focus on food or body image. They will keep away from situations likely ones that once brought them joy—where that determination might be tested.

    The best way to support someone who may be experiencing an eating disorder is by talking with them, but when and how you do it matters. Approach them with love and compassion, let them know that you care about them and that you notice that there is something they may be struggling with.

A. This also might come with a noticeable weight loss or gain.

B. However, being trapped in that discussion is a different story.

C. Their fitness or eating habits are constantly out of the ordinary.

D. Mood changes associated with eating may also be a danger signal.

E. It should be away from the normal routine and outside of a meal time.

F. Some symptoms of an eating disorder may be more visible to the eyes.

G. Eating disorders are a group of conditions marked by an unhealthy relationship with food.

任务型阅读

    Every student is eager to achieve the goals they have set earlier. Here is what experts advise on how to do it.

    {#blank#}1{#/blank#}When it comes to choosing your goal, make sure that it states exactly what it is that you want to achieve. If your goal seems too big, divide it into simpler, easier tasks.

    Write down your goal. You can write it in a journal or write it on a sticky note. Writing keeps your memory fresh and helps you clear up the clutter (杂乱) in your brain. Try to keep a journal or a diary.

    Break your goal down. By chopping your goal up into manageable sections, it allows you to mentally make your way through the goal until the end of a year.{#blank#}2{#/blank#}Therefore, you're far less likely to give up or dodge (逃避) your goal by taking shortcuts or refusing to do anything.

    Put a brake (阻力) on distractions. Turn off all distractions like TV, the Internet, your phone and every other gadget you have at home.{#blank#}3{#/blank#}

    Make it happen.{#blank#}4{#/blank#} Thinking is a useful start but thinking doesn't do the heavy work and thinking certainly won't move mountains. Go out every morning knowing what you need to do and then do it!

    Stay positive. Keep saying that you can do it. Stay motivated and be confident.

    Reward yourself.{#blank#}5{#/blank#} Every once in a while, if you complete a goal, treat yourself than extra bar of chocolate or make time to read that book you've been wanting to read since two months ago.

A. Don't think to yourself that over time you will manage to do it

B. Choose a specific, realistic and important goal

C. It is necessary to choose a proper way to finish the goals

    She had a big trained dog and whenever one of our baseballs rolled in its direction, Mrs Shinas would send the dog to catch it.{#blank#}2{#/blank#} soon we ran out of balls.

    In those days, I used to water our lawn each day. One day as I stood watering our small lawn, I noticed that Mrs Shinas' lawn looked a little dry. It took only a few more minutes to water it, so I did it.{#blank#}3{#/blank#}

    When autumn came that year, I also helped gather up the leaves on Mrs. Shinas' yard. As I was doing this one day, she invited me to sit in her living room. She gave me a cookie and a glass of milk. As I sat there eating the cookie, she showed me her collection of paintings. {#blank#}4{#/blank#}that surprised me a lot. It was the first conversation I had ever had with her.

    About one hundred years ago many educated people learned and spoke French when they met people from other countries. Today most people speak English when they meet foreigners. {#blank#}1{#/blank#} There are more people who speak English as a second language than people who speak English as a first language. Why is this?

    {#blank#}2{#/blank#} One of them is that English has become the language of business. Another important reason is that popular American culture (like movies, music, and McDonald's)has quickly spread throughout the world. {#blank#}3{#/blank#}

    Is it good that English has spread to all parts of the world so quickly? {#blank#}4{#/blank#} It's important to have a language that the people of the earth have in common. Our world has become very global and we need to communicate with one another. On the other hand, English is a fairly complicated language to learn and it brings its culture with it. Do we really need that?

    Scientists have already tried to create an artificial language that isn't too difficult and doesn't include any one group's culture. It is called Esperanto. {#blank#}5{#/blank#} Maybe the popularity of English won't last that long either. Who knows? There are more people in the world who speak Chinese than any other language. Maybe someday Chinese will be the new international language.

A. People like English.

B. But it hasn't become popular.
