What are on your desk? Your model planes? Your picture books? Some kids say reading is good. Books are important to them. Do you like reading? What about reading to a cat or a dog? 

To make* boys and girls open their books and love reading, the Acton Memorial Library lets boys and girls read to a dog every Monday afternoon. In the picture is a boy with a dog. The boy is Stone. He reads to a dog in the library. He thinks reading to a dog is fun. The name of the dog is Molly and she is 5. She isn't black or white. She is brown. She is a reading dog and her job is to make boys and girls like reading. 

The reading dog is nice and all the people love her. Many boys and girls love reading to her, so she is very busy*. Do you want to read to her, too? Come to the library in America!

Rome, Italy(罗马, 意大利)

 Rome is a popular city with tourists in the world. It's also a dream place for cats. Reports say there are about 300,000 street cats in Rome. The city government(政府) helps control(控制) the number of them and keep them healthy. People often give meat, fish, or milk to them. In a word, people take good care of them. Cats are the only animals that can climb high onto the old buildings in Rome by law(法律).

St. Petersburg, Russia(圣彼得堡, 俄罗斯)

 Cats not only live an enjoyable life in the city, but they are also an important part of the city culture. The Hermitage Museum in St. Petersburg has one of the longest histories of looking after cats. The museum was once a palace(宫殿). It has had cats since the 18th century to catch mice. The museum now has about 50 cats, and even celebrates a special day for them every year.

Istanbul, Turkey(伊斯坦布尔, 土耳其)

 If you are a cat fan, Istanbul is the place for you. Cats in the city are famous for their great number and human- friendly nature(性格). You can see cats everywhere while walking along the streets. On every street corner or in front of buildings, there are cat food and water bowls for them. And as people feed them so often, many of the cats are close to people. A movie called Kedi tells the true story of cats living in Istanbul.

Before the party：

The reading club bought 50 English storybooks. Each member chose one of them to read a month ago. They had to read it carefully and the club might choose some of them to share their book reports. 

At the party：

•The book shared by Cindy was Alice in Wonderland. She read the story carefully，prepared a lot，and gave a fantastic book report at the party. 

•The book brought by Jack was Journey to the West. He told us about his own reading experience and showed his excellent spoken English. 

•Zhang Hua finally brought Little Red Riding Hood. She showed nine words that impressed（使留下深刻印象）her very much and used them to make up a wonderful story. 

After the party：

Every member had a good time and learned a lot from the activity. They became more interested in reading and expressing themselves in English.
