Have you ever offered a helping hand to those who are in trouble.

    One day, two 1 were walking along the road to school when they saw an old woman carrying a large basket of pears. They thought the woman looked very 2. They went up to her and said, “Are you going to town If you are, we will help carry your basket.”

    Mother's Day is an important holiday all over the world. The idea for Mother's Day 1 an American woman named Anna Jarvis. Anna hoped there would be a day for people to show 2 to their mothers, so she wrote many letters to important people of her time. In 1914, the second Sunday in May was celebrated as Mother's Day. People in Denmark, Ital, Turkey, Australia and Belgium all celebrate Mother's Day on the same day as Americans. The day gives people a good 3 to thank mothers. People of all ages do many things to make the day special for their mothers. A typical way is to make Moms stay 4 in bed. That means a mother doesn't need to 5 early to make breakfast for her family. 6, the rest of the family make breakfast for her. Kids do secret things to 7 their moms. They write love letters to their moms. Some even make gifts themselves for their moms. Anna Jarvis's mother 8 carnations, so people chose carnations as a present for their mother on Mother's Day. Carnations of different 9 have different meanings. People buy red carnations if their mothers are 10. However, white ones are used to express love to dead mothers.

I usually get up at 6:30 a. m. and take the train at 7:00 a. m. It usually takes me about thirty minutes to get to my office. The train is quick and cheap. I am never late for work.

Question 1: How did you become a National Geographic photographer?

My first job was for a newspaper. After a few years there, I met a National Geographic photographer. He liked my photos and said I should send some to the magazine. So I did. That led to a one—day job. And that led to a nine—day job, and so on.

To get into National Geographic, you have to give them something they don't have. It's not enough just to be a great photographer. You also have to be a scientist, for example, or be able to dive under sea ice, or spend maybe several days in a tree. 

Question 3: Is it hard to get a job as a photographer today?

It's now harder to work for magazines. Technology makes it easy to take good pictures, which means there are more photos and photographers. Also, the Web is filled with photos from all around the world that are free, or cost very little. These photos are often good enough to be put in books and magazines. What the magazines need to do these days is to pay for these photos. 

Question 4: I want to be a photographer. Do you have any advice for me?

Advice? Well, work hard. Be passionate (热情的)about every project you work on. Take lots of pictures in different situations. Look at others' photos thoughtfully and learn from them. And be curious about everything. There's something to photograph everywhere. 

Last summer, I took my son to visit Beijing. It was 1 first time to go out by train. So 2 was exciting to him.

On August 11 ,we 3 Beijing. We stayed in a small and clean hotel near a subway station. That day, we 4 the subway to Tian'anmen Square. It's a famous square in the world. We also visited some great 5 such as the Great Hall of the People and the Palace Museum. We felt 6 when we stood on the gate tower （城 楼）of Tian'anmen.

On August 12, we went to the Great Wall by bus. There were many 7 Many of them were from other countries. On the wall, we walked, talked and took lots of 8 We had a lot of fun there. The next three 9 , we went to the Bird's Nest, the Summer Palace and some other places. All of them were great. We felt very excited when we got home. We really enjoyed our 10 trip in Beijing.

 Alice is a 6- year- old girl. She likes drawing(画画) very much and she draws every day.

 One day, after the rain(雨), she goes out(出去) with her father and her dog Coco." Wow, what's that?" she asks.

" It's a rainbow. How many colors can you see, my dear?" asks her father.

" Er… one, two, three… seven. Seven colors. It looks so nice."

 Then they go home."I want to draw a rainbow, Dad, but I don't have orange , green or purple," Alice says to her father.

" That's easy. You know what? We have the three colors. Let me help you. Mix(混合) red and yellow, and we can get orange. Mix yellow and blue, and we can get green. Blue and red can make purple."

" Wow, that's interesting! I have seven colors now. I can draw a rainbow. Thanks, Dad!" Alice draws a great rainbow. She is so happy!
