Once upon a time, there was a little boy named Rakesh, he studied and lived in a boarding school(寄宿学校). Every night he jumped over the wall and played outside. He1returned before dawn (黎明) and lay on his bed again, so no one knew that Rakesh went out at night .

    One night as usual, Rakesh found everyone asleep. He decided to play outside again. He went into his teacher—Mrs. Green's room 2 and saw her3 . Then Rakesh walked out towards the wall. Near the wall, there was a ladder in the bushes, he hid it there. He took out the ladders and he climbed up it , then jumped over the wall.4at that time his teacher was awake and saw him going out.

    She got up and took away the ladder5the wall. A few hours 6, Rakesh returned. In the dark, he tried to climb 7 from the wall. Sadly, there was no ladder, instead, Mrs. Green was standing where the ladder was and waited for him. Rakesh was very8to be punished (处罚), but to his surprise, she just helped Rakesh to get onto the ground , said, "Rakesh, at least9a warm coat with you when you go out at night."

    Mrs. Green's10made Rakesh know his own faults. He apologized (道歉) and never went out at night again.

    Everyone has dreams. Lily dreamed of being a dancer. She took 1  lessons and all her teachers thought she was an excellent student.

    One day she saw a notice. It said that a famous dancing group would be performing in her town. 2 though, “I must show the leader my dancing skills.” She waited for the group leader in the dressing room. 3 the leader appeared, she came up and hander him the flowers she prepared. The thorns (刺) hurt her fingers and blood came out. But she was too  4 to care about the pain. She expressed her strong wish to be a dancer and begged (乞求) to show her dance.

    “All right, you dance.” The leader agreed. But half way through the dance, he stopped her, “I'm sorry, in my mind you're not good enough!” On hearing this, Lily  5 out as fast as her legs could carry her. It was so hard for her to accept this. She lost heart and 6 her dream.

    Several years later, the dancing group came to her town again. She decided to find out 7the leader had told her she was not good enough.

    This was his reply, “I tell this  8 every student.”

    “You've ruined (毁掉) my life!” she shouted angrily.

    The leader went on, “I remember your present of  9and how the thorns had hurt your fingers but you carried on bravely. It was a pity that you didn't take dancing like that and stopped trying so  10 . So you are still not good enough for dancing!”

    When I was young, I went to a boarding（寄宿）school in Edinburgh. It was far from home because I1on an island in the north of Scotland.

    It was a music school, and I studied the violin. At the end of the term, we all packed our bags and our 2  to go home for the holidays. Most kids went by train or bus. Some were 3  by their parents. But I had to go home by ferry—14 hours overnight on the open sea.

    One summer, after packing my suitcase and violin, I said4to my friends. I took the train to the ferry terminal（渡船码头）and then got on the ferry. But when the ferry started moving, I realized a(n)5thing! I left my violin on the train!

    Oh no! What should I do? What would my dad say? He'd be really6! I got so scared（害怕）that I didn't sleep all night.

    The next morning, I7the ferry to meet my dad. After I told him everything, he laughed. I looked at him and couldn't believe it.8was he laughing?

    I always had a label（标签）in my violin case with my address and a telephone number. My dad told me, "A cleaner found your violin on the train and took it to the police. They  9 me and put it on a plane. It arrived an hour ago." 10, my violin was safe.  I was so happy!

    One hot afternoon, a poor farmer was digging his field. Suddenly, his spade (铲) hit something. It was a big metal1which was big enough to boil rice for more than one hundred people. "It does not seem to be of any use to me. I will dig2. Maybe I will find something else," thought the farmer. He3to dig.

    Feeling tired, he threw the spade into the pot and sat under a tree to4. When he got up to leave, he could not5his eyes. There were one hundred spades in the pot. What a6pot!

    After that, he put a7into the pot. Then he found one hundred mangoes in the pot.8 that pot, he became a rich man. The King came to know of the pot,9he was very greedy (贪婪的). “I want to find out the10of the magical pot. If it is valuable, it should be11, " the King thought. So, at once, he ordered his men to bring the farmer and his pot.

    The King12the pot and did not know what to do. He thought, "Let me see what is inside this pot that makes this pot so magical?" He slipped (滑) and13inside the pot. After climbing up out of the magical pot, he was14to find that there were one hundred Kings.

    All the Kings then15among themselves and died. This magical pot has killed the King himself!

    It was the last lesson before1 holiday. The students 2 very happy. Their English teacher was very3, too. The teacher 4 played nice games with them. He sang some nice songs, and then he went to the blackboard and wrote "SMILE"5 it. "This is one of the 6 words in English", he said to the class. 7 the students laughed, and then one girl 8 and said, "Why is it one of the longest words in English?" The teacher said 9 for a while. Then he smiled and said," Because there is a mile between the 10letter and the last.

    When I was 19 years old, I worked in a doctor's office as a medical assistant. I was shy and didn't 1  myself, so I  2 talked with others.  I was uncertain about my future.

    I met a doctor there and became good friends with him. He 3 me to believe in myself and asked me to learn to communicate with others. He helped me accept 4 , and then he encouraged me to5 one or two college classes. I did as what he told me and did very well.

    One day, he asked me where I wanted to go ten years later and 61 wanted my life to be like. I hadn't thought about this before that day. That night I 7 thought about the two questions. It was he that made me 8a different world.

    Later, I went to college and realized my9was to be accepted into a physician assistant training program. Unluckily, it was very 10and I couldn't afford it, I wanted to 11. When my dream was about to slip away, this wonderful man took me out one evening into a bar, bought me a bottle of beer, and offered to help me pay for my college education. He did it 12 asking for anything in return.

    A few years later, I asked him why he helped me. He said," 13 I knew you could be more than what you were, and because once, when I wasn't sure whether I could succeed and didn't have the money for school, 14 helped me."

    After hearing his words, I was shocked. I said, "Thank you, Joe! I will 15 the love to others!"
