Lunch Made of Love

    In those poor times, many of my classmates couldn't bring a nice meal to school for lunch. My deskmate's meal was always cabbages, while {#blank#}1{#/blank#} （我的） was ham and fried eggs. Sometimes, my deskmate would first pick the hair out of his lunch and then eat it as if {#blank#}2{#/blank#} （没事） had happened. This continued for a long time.

    "His mother is so lousy（邋遢的）that her hair drops in the meal, "my classmates said. I {#blank#}3{#/blank#} （想）it was really dirty, but I couldn't show that because I didn't want to hurt（伤害）his feelings. Still, I started to think that he was {#blank#}4{#/blank#} （肮脏）, too.

    One day after school, he called me and said, "Would you like to come to my house if you are {#blank#}5{#/blank#} （有空）?"

    Though I didn't want to go, I knew it would be impolite to refuse because this was his first invitation. Following my friend, we {#blank#}6{#/blank#} （到达）at a poor village.

    "Mom, I brought my friend home. "

    His old mother opened the {#blank#}7{#/blank#}（门）, "My son's friend is here. Let me have a look. "But to my {#blank#}8{#/blank#}（惊讶）, his mother was blind. She couldn't see anything.

    I felt sad. Now I understood why my deskmate's lunch had hair in it. His mother got ready for it {#blank#}9{#/blank#}（仔细）for him every day, even though she was blind. It was not only a lunch, but also a {#blank#}10{#/blank#} （母亲）love.

A Cloud of Hope and Danger

    A small cloud floats through the air in a hospital operating room(手术室). In the room a patient, suffering from cancer, lies on a table. The cloud surrounds(包围) the patient, {#blank#}1{#/blank#} her body and filling her lungs(肺). The cloud is not smoke or steam. It is made of millions of microscopic robots called nano-robots( 纳米机器人) . These tiny robots move from cell(细胞) to cell in the {#blank#}2{#/blank#} body, destroying the cancer.

    Fighting cancer with nano-robots is only an idea today, {#blank#}3{#/blank#} scientists say that it could be possible in the future. Using nano-robots for good purposes such as fighting disease or repairing the environment may be the{#blank#}4{#/blank#}to many of today's problems.

    However, nano-robots could be a {#blank#}5{#/blank#} risk as well. Since nano-robots are so tiny, they will have to work in large teams of many thousands to many millions. For this reason, nano-robots will have to be programmed to build {#blank#}6{#/blank#} . Scientists will not have the ability to build millions of nano-robots one by one.

    This {#blank#}7{#/blank#} to reproduce is making some scientists worried. What if something goes wrong in the programming? Quite a lot of crazy nano-robots would be far {#blank#}8{#/blank#} than any disease. Some people think that if they get out of control, nano-robots could destroy the Earth.

    What should be done? Should we continue {#blank#}9{#/blank#} nano-robots or should we search for other methods? This is one of the many difficult {#blank#}10{#/blank#} that we have to make in the future.

    Some people prefer to travel by sea when possible. There are large liners and river boats. You can visit many{#blank#}1{#/blank#}countries and different parts of your country on them, Ships are not so fast as trains{#blank#}2{#/blank#}planes, but travelling by sea is a very pleasant way to spend a holiday.

Many people like to travel by car. You can make your own{#blank#}3{#/blank#}. You can travel about three hundred miles or only fifty miles a day, just as you like. You can stop wherever you wish. There is always something interesting to see, at a hotel to{#blank#}4{#/blank#}the night or at a good restaurant where you can enjoy a good meal. That is why travelling by car is popular for pleasant trips, while people usually take a train or a plane when they are travelling on business.
