All scientists subscribe {#blank#}1{#/blank#} the view that it is human activities that have caused the global warming. Huge {#blank#}2{#/blank#} (quantity) of carbon dioxide produced by burning fuels like coal,  natural gas and oil {#blank#}3{#/blank#} (result) in the "greenhouse effect". All scientists also agree that the levels of carbon dioxide keep on {#blank#}4{#/blank#} (increase), so more heat energy tends to be {#blank#}5{#/blank#} (trap) in the atmosphere. {#blank#}6{#/blank#} the scientists have different attitudes towards this phenomenon. On the one hand, some think the {#blank#}7{#/blank#} of increasing the temperature by 5 degrees would be a catastrophe. On the other hand, others are {#blank#}8{#/blank#} to this view and believe that there will be few bad environmental {#blank#}9{#/blank#} caused by more carbon dioxide. On the contrary, they think it will be beneficial to plants, crops and a greater range of animals, {#blank#}10{#/blank#} will make people's life better.

    Charlie Chaplin was born in a poor family of music hall performers in 1889. {#blank#}1{#/blank#} astonished us was that Charlie {#blank#}2{#/blank#}(teach) to sing as soon as he could speak and dance as soon as he could walk. Such training was common in acting families at that time, {#blank#}3{#/blank#} (especial) when the family income was often uncertain. Unfortunately his father died, leaving the family even worse off. By his teens, Charlie had become one of the most popular child actors in England.     Charlie wrote, directed and produced the films he {#blank#}8{#/blank#}(star) in. In 1972 he was given {#blank#}9{#/blank#}special Oscar for his outstanding work. He lived in England and the USA but spent his last years in Switzerland, {#blank#}10{#/blank#} he was buried in 1977. He is loved and remembered as a great actor who could inspire people with great confidence.

    Before the day {#blank#}1{#/blank#} the graduation ceremony was held, I took the graduation gifts into {#blank#}2{#/blank#}(consider). Early in the morning, I went to the department store {#blank#}3{#/blank#}(select) a gift for my teachers and classmates. {#blank#}4{#/blank#} (choose) carefully, I decided to buy some fancy cards for them. {#blank#}5{#/blank#} modern means of communication were so popular that I {#blank#}6{#/blank#} (feel) so sorry for the separation, I put {#blank#}7{#/blank#} my sorrow and gratitude in every card. In my view, {#blank#}8{#/blank#} is better than a card to express my current feeling. During the ceremony, we share our gifts and express our deep love. Separation is {#blank#}9{#/blank#} great sorrow to everyone. In the end, my classmates and I sang the song titled "Auld Lang Syne", which is{#blank#}10{#/blank#}(suitable) song to say goodbye.

    Jane felt sweet in the drive－through line at Heav'nly Donuts. Just the day before, a stranger ahead of her in line had {#blank#}1{#/blank#} (generous) paid for her coffee. "The gesture made such a big difference in my day," says Eileen. She had recently lost her job as a doctor's {#blank#}2{#/blank#} (assist), and money was tight.     It was a short flight from Shanghai to Xi'an. Xi'an is one of the four great ancient capitals of China {#blank#}1{#/blank#} a history of over 3,100 years. {#blank#}2{#/blank#} (date) from the Ming Dynasty, its ancient walls are the best preserved in the world. There are bicycles for people to hire. It is {#blank#}3{#/blank#} (amaze) to ride along the walls to survey this fascinating city.

    The Tang Dynasty Music and Dance show is not to be missed, but my favorite is an art gallery, {#blank#}4{#/blank#} we can enjoy some beautiful artwork and learn how to write Chinese characters.

    Most visitors make their way to Xi'an to see the life-size terracotta warriors (兵马俑) and we were not {#blank#}5{#/blank#} (difference) at all. The collection, which shows the armies of the first Emperor of China, {#blank#}6{#/blank#} (remain) hidden until 1974 when they were discovered by a farmer digging a well. Walking among the statues {#blank#}7{#/blank#} (forbid) unless you are a VIP ­ but there are plenty of souvenir shops in which {#blank#}8{#/blank#} (tourist) can buy the replicas (复制品) of them.

    All too soon it was time {#blank#}9{#/blank#} (leave). I really enjoyed my stay in Xi'an. It is indeed a place of interest worth {#blank#}10{#/blank#} second visit.
