    When we have a conversation with someone, we may be using more body language than words. However, the same body language may mean different things in different countries. (A)sometimes, that's, understand, correctly, why, don't, each other, people. Pointing to one part of the body can mean differently in different cultures. For example, in the USA people point to their heads when they think someone is clever. However, in Europe it means “He or she is stupid or something is wrong with his or her head”. In our Chinese culture, nodding our head up and down means “yes” and shaking our head from side to side means “no”. However, in parts of India, Greece and Turkey, it means just the opposite. In England or the USA, when you raise your hand and make a circle with the thumb and the second finger, it means “You're all right or everything is OK”. However, if we do this in France or Belgium, it means “You're worth zero”. In Greece or Turkey, we should not make this gesture. Or we are thought to be very rude.

    The meaning of gestures can also change over time. In the 1960s, the “V” sign meant “peace”. However, during World War Ⅱ, it meant “victory”.

    (B)Though the meaning of body language is different, there are some expressions having the same meaning throughout the world, such as smiling and crying.

    Welcome to a day of my life in 2037．I am Li Ming．I work in an office．I don't need to work in the afternoon．At 8：00 in the morning．my robot servant Smart will wake me up．He will cook me a nice breakfast and then drive me to my office．After 10 minutes, I arrive my office．Then a big screen will show me what to do the day．At lunch time，I will have my lunch with some of my good friends in a restaurant．The robots there will make all of the dishes．They are delicious!

    Friends are very important in everyone's life because friends are always there when we need them. It's great to have many friends, and I can't think about my life without my friends.

    My best friend is Lisa. When I first met her, I was five. She is one year older than me. Now she is in the same class with me, in the 8th grade. She is tall and quite thin.     Traveling by subway can sometimes be a challenge, especially during rush hour. You have to fight your way into the carriage (车厢), and keep away from others' hot water. The smells of some passengers' food are very strong, too.

    Since April, the local government of Beijing has collected public opinions on the new Beijing Subway Passenger Rules. The rules say that if passengers have bad manners while on the subway, they will end up with bad credit (信用) scores or even being refused by the subway. Four kinds of behaviors (行为) were added to the new rules. They include stealing others' seats, eating or drinking, handing out advertisements, and not paying for the tickets.

    As for eating and drinking on the subway, ①不同的人有不同的观点. Some people support the rules that all passengers except babies and people with certain health problems are not allowed to eat or drink on the subway. ②The have pointed out that the smell of food and drink can make other passengers unhappy.

    However, others question this rule, saying that drinking water should be allowed ③________ people can get thirsty after long rides on the crowded subway.

    Robots were something in science novels and movies. Now there are many robots working in factories. In fact, most working robots are not like humans at all, some are more like strange machines. They do most of dirty or dangerous jobs over and over again. Robots never get bored or tired but humans will if they do the same jobs. Scientists believe there will be more new robots everywhere, but it may take hundreds of years. They will have different shapes. They will look like humans or animals. In India, scientists made robots that look like snakes. They can help find people inside fallen buildings.
