Traveling to all corners of the world gets easier and easier. We live in a global village, but this doesn't mean that we all behave in the same way.

    How should you behave when you meet someone for the first time?{#blank#}1{#/blank#}In Japan, you should bow, and the more respect you want to show, the deeper you should bow. In Thailand, people greet each other by pressing both hands together at the chest.{#blank#}2{#/blank#}

    {#blank#}3{#/blank#} In Muslim countries, you shouldn't expose your body, especially women, who should wear long blouses and skirts. In Korea, you should take off your shoes when entering a house. Remember to place them neatly together where you come in.

    In most countries, an exchange of business cards is necessary for all introductions. It should include your company name and your position.     Researchers define self-control or self-discipline as "ability to control or change one's inner responses". {#blank#}1{#/blank#} However, some people think that as an immediate consequence of leading lives of constant self-control, they aren't likely to gain a lot of pleasure from life.

    {#blank#}2{#/blank#} To start, 414 adults completed on online survey. In the survey, they rated their self-control by indicating how much they agreed with 14 statements, such as "I indeed do certain things that are bad for me, if they are fun."

    In their study, 205 adults were given smart phones and required to report their emotions at random moments throughout the week. {#blank#}3{#/blank#} If so, they had to report how hard they tried to resist them, and whether they eventually ended up acting on them.

    The researchers found that the more self-control people had，the more satisfied they were with their lives in the long run. {#blank#}4{#/blank#} In fact, such people's increased happiness to a large extent accounted for the increased life satisfaction.

    These researchers also figured out that people high in self-control are simply less likely to find themselves in situations where that's even an issue. They don't waste time fighting inner battles over whether or not to eat a second piece of cake. {#blank#}5{#/blank#} And that, it would seem, makes them happier……even if occasionally a little bit sad.

    During the examination week you will probably have some time available to revise. Makea special revision timetable for this period. This time is not an extra holiday or a chance for you to stay in bed!

    When you learn anything by heart, you must make sure that you understand it. Always go back after three days and make sure that you still know it. If you have forgotten it, it means that it only centered your short-term memory. Learn it again and go back to it after a couple of days. Once you can repeat it accurately after three days, the information has entered your long-term memory. {#blank#}3{#/blank#}

    It is useful to make revision notes from your textbook or file but you must not assume that making these notes means that you know them. Learning them takes much more time and effort and you must always check your memory after a few days.

    Some definitions（定义）, such as those you are given in mathematics, must be remembered accurately. {#blank#}4{#/blank#}Repeat it over and over to yourself when you get the chance. Check that you still know it after a few days.

    {#blank#}5{#/blank#} Revision is not something that can be achieved by just reading a chapter in a book and vaguely（模糊地）remembering a few sentences immediately afterwards. This is true for class tests as well as for examinations.

D. Keep checking every couple of days to make sure that it has.
