    Do animals have their culture? What do we mean by "culture"? Recent years social scientists have begun to ask if culture is found just in humans, or if some animals have their culture too. When we think of culture, we mean a way of life that a group of people have in common(共同的). Culture is the {#blank#}1{#/blank#} and beliefs(信仰) that a country or a group has. It is the way of behaviour that helps people live together. It is also the way of behaviour that makes a group of people {#blank#}2{#/blank#} other groups.

    Our culture makes us lose strength, claws(爪子), long teeth, and other defenses (防卫). Instead we use tools, cooperate(合作) with {#blank#}3{#/blank#}, and communicate with language. But this kind of "culture" can also be found in the lives of some animals. Animals can also make tools, for example. We {#blank#}4{#/blank#} think that the ability to use tools was the dividing line(分界线) between human beings and other animals. However, we have found that is not like this. Some animals can not only use tools but also make tools themselves. Animals can also share knowledge with each other and use their own language to communicate. So it may be important for us to know that the line dividing us from animals is not as clear as we used to think.

    We are going to have a party in our house this evening. It is my mother's birthday, and she has {#blank#}1{#/blank#} my uncles and aunts and some of her {#blank#}2{#/blank#}. Mother and I are {#blank#}3{#/blank#} to cook most of the food for the party, and my father is getting the drinks. The living room looks very pretty. Balloons of all colours are hanging from the lights {#blank#}4{#/blank#} we have taken the carpets away {#blank#}5{#/blank#} we are going to dance there after dinner.

    In the dining room we have{#blank#}6{#/blank#} out the best plates and glasses and tablecloths, and they all look {#blank#}7{#/blank#}. We are going to have soup, fish, chicken, fruit and cheese. We are going to dance {#blank#}8{#/blank#} midnight, and after that, we will have more food, because we will be hungry after all that dancing.

    Last year my mother {#blank#}9{#/blank#} her birthday party in a restaurant, but it is pleasanter{#blank#}10{#/blank#} and at home. When it is my birthday, I am going to invite my friends and have a party in the garden. I will hang pretty lights in the trees and we will enjoy our food in the garden and dance on the grass.
