A good book can teach you things beyond(超出) your class. It can open your eyes and clear your minds. If you want to get into a good reading habit, there are a number of ways to develop it.

    Plan your time

    You should give yourself at least thirty minutes in all for reading every day. When time is set, nothing can change it. For example, make it a habit to read during breakfast or lunch time.

    Always carry a book

    Wherever you go, take a book with you. When you leave the house, make sure that you always carry a good book as well as your school things. Remember that a book always stays with you.

    Find a quiet place

    Find a place in your home where you can sit in a comfortable chair. When you read a book, no one will trouble you. There should be no televisions, computers, music or even noisy family members around you.

    Have a library day

    Have a library card, and you can read as many good books as possible in the library. Make it a weekly trip to the library. You can save a lot of money.

    Blog it

    One of the best ways to develop a good reading habit is to put it on your blog (博客) . If you don't have one, create one. It's free. Ask your friends and family to go there to share your ideas and give you some advice.

    As a student, I was most afraid to answer question in class, and I found that the students around me were just like me. At the beginning of each class, when the teacher ask a question. I always lowered my head because I was afraid the teacher saw me.

"When I came to the United States to study, the university often invited famous people to make speeches. Before the beginning every speech, I found an interesting thing. So when the speaker need the answer from the student, he could see it and call a listener's name directly. I couldn't understand that. My classmate told me the speakers were all top people, who meant chances. In fact, l really saw a few students got great chances because of that."

    After listening the story, l understand that the chance will not find you itself. You must show yourself all the time so that you can find a chance on the card.

    Mr Brown was at the theatre. He had got his ticket at the moment, so he had not been able to choose tis seat. He now found that he was in the middle of a group of American ladies, some of them middle-aged and some of them quite old. They clearly all knew each other well, as before the curtain went up on the play they bad come to see, they all talked and joked a lot together.

    The lady sitting on Mr Brown's left, who was about sixty years old, seemed to be the happiest and the most amusing of the American group, and after the first act(幕)of the play, she apologized to him for the noisiness of her friends. He answered that he was very glad to see American ladies so obviously enjoying their visit to England, and so they had a friendly talk. Mr Brown's neighbour explained what they were doing there.

    "You know, I have known these ladies all my life, "she said. " We all grew up together back in our hometown in the United States. They have all lost their husbands, and call themselves the Merry Widows(寡妇). It is a sort of club, you know. They go abroad every summer for a month or two and have a lot of fun. They always go everywhere together. I have wanted to join their club for a long time, but I didn't qualify(具备……的资格)for membership until the spring of this year. "
