My daughter and I were driving from Los Angeles to Dallas. We were running1on gas somewhere in New Mexico and 2 we would see a gas station soon enough to fill up.

    But that didn't happen and we3 we were not going to make it to the next town. So my daughter made up a 4 that read “Low on gas. Can u help?”and held it outside her 5 in the hope that a passing driver would 6  it and stop.

    It was about 3:30 pm on a weekday and there weren't too many vehicles 7 us at that time. Then we found someone 8  along ahead of us. We caught up with it in the 9that the driver would notice the sign.

    After a brief expression of10 on his face, he seemed to have noticed the sign and 11down to pull over. We pulled over right behind him.

    When he knows that we don't have enough gas, he12  to buy us gas at the next town Roswell. When we 13  our difficulty of not having enough gas to get there, he said they had a gas 14on his farm about 10 minutes away, so if we could give him 20 minutes, he would 15 back there, get a can of gasoline and 16  up our tank.

    We could not believe our good 17 !We were filled with gratitude(感激)for the18of strangers such as this person as we waited for him to return. Sure enough, he was back with the can. He 19 to take payment for the gas, saying “What good is a man who cannot help another20.”

    My husband took me to the Olive Garden, where we often had meals, and our 2was very nice. We had a great dinner experience there. Inside the mug was a smile card and forty five dollars, a dollar15each year of my life. After seeing the16 she looked at my husband and said we did not have to 17a tip. He just 18her words and left her the tip anyway.

    Karina was so19 what she had received. I thanked her for receiving my gift. I am thankful to God for another year of life and the 20to see that every day is a great day to give.

    This is the story of two lovers, who finally got married. Both of them were romantic at first, 1 on the walk of life, problems, quarrels, profession came into their life.

    One day, she finally decided "I want to break up". "Why?" he asked.

    As a temporary teacher, my daily routine1driving to a new school2every day, so I'm usually unable to anticipate (预料) the day's events, good or bad.

    On one particular day, I was teaching in a very3class. I was managing behavior all the morning and by lunch time, I needed coffee to4the afternoon. So at my lunch5, I drove to a nearby plaza to get a cup of6. Upon returning to the car, I realized I had7my keys and my phone8. I had about 15 minutes to get back to the school which was a good 4–or–5 minute9. I thought of rushing back, but it being10, I thought a nasty fall on ice would only make the situation much11.

    So I ran into a McDonald's which was in the12plaza and asked the man at the counter who 13to be the manager to help me call a tab. I14explained my situation and he hurried to the back to use the phone15I paced in the restaurant.

    The manager returned16to tell me that the cab company had put him on hold and then the line got17. My expression began to resemble some combination of hopelessness and fear.

    Almost immediately, the manager grabbed his coat and18to drive me to the school. Without19, I followed him into his car and made back into my classroom with 2 minutes to 20before the bell!

    Jadav Payeng, an Indian, has been planting a tree every day since he was just 16 years old. Now, almost 40 years later, he has created a1of 1,360 acres on what was once a2land.

    Growing up on Majuli, the world's largest river island, he once3hundreds of animals dying from drought among the4greenery on the island, so he was5to plant one tree every day.

    After almost four6of growth, his forest is now home to hundreds of elephants, tigers, deer and birds. Payeng says he has lost7of how many trees he has planted—but he8there are now thousands of trees providing9to the wildlife.

     "It's not as if I did it10," Payeng said. "You plant one or two trees, and they have to seed. And once they seed, the wind knows how to plant them, the birds here know how to11them, cows know, elephants12, and even the river knows. The entire13knows."

    Island locals used to call Payeng "crazy" for his14, but since he was accidentally15by a wandering wildlife journalist in 2007, the "Forest Man of India" has been16as a role model for protecting the environment.

    Payeng doesn't plan on17any time soon—he wants to continue planting trees "until his last18". He hopes to one day19the entire island with 5,000 acres of trees. "Nature is everything. It20me. It gives me power…As long as it survives, I survive."

    One evening, Catherine was at home as usual. As her1swung between what she was going to do with her life and their dinner plans for the evening, she was unexpectedly2by an urgent call from her sister "Get over here!
