My mother was a housewife. She thought that successful people spent a lot more time {#blank#}1{#/blank#} than watching TV. So she asked my brother and me to read two books every week in our free time. She would check them with marks, {#blank#}2{#/blank#} she couldn't read the books at all.
When I went to school, I was an A-student, but not for long. I wanted cool {#blank#}3{#/blank#} and hung out with friends. I went from being an A-student to a C-student, but I didn't care. One night, I complained about not having enough Italian T-shirts. Then my mother gave me all her money. She said I could get the money {#blank#}4{#/blank#} to buy shirts if I finished buying all things the family needed. I was very {#blank#}5{#/blank#} that, but after I bought those things, there was no money left. I got to know how {#blank#}6{#/blank#} it was for my mother to do all this. I went back to my studies and become an A-student again. Finally, my dream {#blank#}7{#/blank#} and I become a doctor.
My story is really my mother's story--a woman with little education greatly changed my life as a {#blank#}8{#/blank#} . So, I believe there is no job more important than parenting.

    There was a small village near a mountain. People there loved their village very much and they grew many {#blank#}1{#/blank#} on the mountain. Water in the rivers was very clear and the  {#blank#}2{#/blank#}was clean. People lived a poor life, but they were very {#blank#}3{#/blank#} . After a few years, some people in the village started to cut down trees to {#blank#}4{#/blank#} for money. There were some people from cities {#blank#}5{#/blank#} to visit the village. People began to kill some wild animals as {#blank#}6{#/blank#} to treat (招待) the visitors. Of course, they made lots of money. But{#blank#}7{#/blank#} knew what the village would be like in the future.

    As time went on, there were fewer plants and animals and the water became {#blank#}8{#/blank#} . The visitors became fewer and fewer. Several years later, people there knew they must stop destroying (破坏){#blank#}9{#/blank#}. They would like to live a happy life as before, so they began to{#blank#}10{#/blank#} new plants. They hoped the village would become as beautiful as before.

    Mae West said, "I speak two languages, Body and English." Sometimes, our {#blank#}1{#/blank#} are saying more than our words.

    In Britain, people don't want you {#blank#}2{#/blank#} them at all. In a formal situation (正式场合), {#blank#}3{#/blank#} people would often greet each other with a handshake. They don't often greet with a hug, and almost never with a kiss! {#blank#}4{#/blank#} in the south of Italy and in many other parts of the world, people always greet with two {#blank#}5{#/blank#} on the cheek (脸颊). And do you know what's the most popular body language? It's smile! So always {#blank#}6{#/blank#} at people when you greet them!

Mom: Why? What's wrong?

Linda: I can't find my schoolbag.

Mom: Well, where did you last put it?

Linda: I can't remember! I attended a concert yesterday so it might still be in the music hall.

Mom: Do you have anything {#blank#}2{#/blank#} in your schoolbag?

Linda: No, just my books, my pink hair band and some tennis balls.

Mom: So it can't be {#blank#}3{#/blank#}.

Linda: Oh, wait! I went to a picnic after the concert. I remember I had my schoolbag with me at the picnic.

Mom: So could it still be at the park?

Linda: Yes. I left early, before the rest of my friends. I think somebody must have {#blank#}4{#/blank#} it up. I'll call them now to check if {#blank#}5{#/blank#} has it.
