The buskers-people who perform on the streets and in other public places—bring the city to life with amazing entertainment.

In many high schools, there are strict rules about using mobile phones. If your phone rings in class, for example, the teacher will be very angry.
Every mobile phone has a ringtone (铃声). It tells you that someone is calling you. Now,there is a ringtone called “mosquitotone (蚊子铃声)”. Using it,students can receive calls and text messages (短信) in class but the teacher will not realize what is happening. How?
Mosquitotone has a special sound. Only children and teenagers can hear it. As we get older,we are unable to hear some sounds with high frequencies (频率). As a result,a child or teenager can hear the mosquitotone ringtone, but it's_inaudible_to someone 20 or older.
But sometimes, people over 20 can hear the ringtone. One British student's phone uses mosquitotone. In class, the student's phone rang. The 32yearold teacher looked at the student and became unhappy. “I heard that. You know the rule:no mobile phone in class.”
Not all the students are interested in mosquitotone. Jerry Jones,a high school student of 17,says,“Using mosquitotone too often is bad for our hearing. I may use it for pleasure, but not in class. It's unfair to the teachers!”
What do parents think of mosquitotone?“I think it is perfect for places like movie theaters,” says Connie Neeson,44.“Think about it. Yon're watching a film and someone's mobile phone rings. Mosquitotone is good because many people don't hear it. However,it also has a bad influence on their study if students use it in class.”

Imagine that you have woken up on the first day of your vacation. You enjoy a delicious breakfast, take a walk on the beach, and read the morning newspaper as you drink coffee. You are feeling happy and relaxed. But you may start to feel bored by the time the late afternoon comes around!

If you have ever felt like this, you' re not alone. It turns out that having unlimited(无限的) free time is not always as great as we expected. What is the best amount(数量) of free time to r our happiness?

Researchers tried to answer this question by surveying tens of thousands of people, collecting data(数据) on how they spent their time and how happy they were. After looking at the data, the research team found that having less than two hours of free time a day was not enough to be happy. People with under two hours of free time a day usually had more stress. It means that they were simply too busy with work to get their happiness.

The tact that being too busy cuts happiness is true. It might lead to the answer that more free time is simply better. Surprisingly, having a lot of free time is not a panacea(灵丹妙药) for happiness. People surely get a certain sense of joy from finishing tasks. Having more than five hours of free time a day makes us lose the sense of joy. It is in fact cutting our happiness. But I think it is how we spend our free time that matters. When free time is used in more active ways, like playing a team sport, then five or more hours a day can keep or even produce happiness. However, spending five or more hours of free time alone can stop happiness.

 阅读下列短文,从每题所给的A、B、C、D四个选项中,选出最佳选项。

Eat like a king in the morning, a prince at noon, and a peasant at night. This saying is all about the importance of breakfast. And now scientists can tell us just why it's so important. According to a study carried out at Imperial College London, UK, skipping the first meal of the day not only means you eat mor eat lunch, but also that your brain wants to find more unhealthy foods.

The study suggests that there is a special part of our brain called the orbitofrontal cortex(眶额皮层),which plays an important part in making choices about what we eat. It is used for identifying the taste of food, especially when skipping breakfast. It is more likely to target high-calorie foods when you're on an empty stomach.

Scientists did an experiment on this. Dr Tony Goldstone from Imperial College London, scanned (Ff#) the brains of 21 men and women, around the age of 25. On the first day, these people skipped breakfast before the scans. On the second day, they had cereal(谷物), bread and jam as breakfast. After the scan on both days, they had their lunch.

When the volunteers had skipped breakfast, they ate around 20 percent more at lunch, compared with days when they had eaten breakfast. Their brain scans also showed the orbitofrontal cortex was especially responsive to high-calorie foods. "We believe that bit identifies the value of foods - how pleasant, how delicious something is, " Goldstone told The Guardian.
