“USA? Britain? Which country is{#blank#}1{#/blank#}(good) to study in?” We often hear such discussion. As China opens its door, it is a dream for many Chinese students to study abroad. They want to learn about the outside world.

    It's true that studying abroad can help students develop{#blank#}2{#/blank#}(they). Their foreign language skills will{#blank#}3{#/blank#} (improve) and it may be easier to find jobs.

    But there are problems{#blank#}4{#/blank#} should be considered. Language is the first. Students must spend a lot of time{#blank#}5{#/blank#} (learn) another language.

    Students must also learn{#blank#}6{#/blank#} (live) without parents' care and deal with all kinds of things they didn't have to do before, like looking after themselves. There are {#blank#}7{#/blank#} (report) about Chinese students abroad running into an ocean of difficulties{#blank#}8{#/blank#} giving up in the end. When they have to take care {#blank#}9{#/blank#} themselves, it is hard for students to study well.

    Finally, studying abroad brings a heavy burden to the family. For most Chinese parents, the cost of studying abroad{#blank#}10{#/blank#} (be) very high. But is it worth it?

    The Battle of Chancellorsville, one of the most famous battles of the Civil War, took place in Virginia in the spring of 1863. For months, the two armies had been staying on opposite banks of a narrow river. The Confederate(南方联盟) troops were led by perhaps {#blank#}1{#/blank#} (honored) military tactician(战略家) in American history, General Robert E. Lee. The Union (北方联盟)soldiers were led by “Fighting” Joe Hooker.

    In appearance, personality, and lifestyle, these men were nearly perfect opposites. Lee, an older man in poor health with a gray beard, had a solemn, measured character. Hooker was a blond, broad-shouldered young man {#blank#}2{#/blank#} pride over his appearance was but one aspect of his self-centeredness. Whereas Lee was loyal and principled, Hooker was known for his rollicking enjoyment of both women and whiskey.

    Despite the fact that the Confederacy {#blank#}3{#/blank#} (win) the last four major battles and the Union soldiers were starving, {#blank#}4{#/blank#} (exhaust), and demoralized, Hooker proclaimed, “My plans are perfect. And when I start to carry them out, {#blank#}5{#/blank#} God have mercy on Bobby Lee, for I shall have none.” Why was Hooker so confident?

    Hooker had used spies, analysts, and even hot air balloons to compile a vast amount of intelligence about Lee's army. He had already been aware, for example, {#blank#}6{#/blank#} Lee had only 61,000 men to Hooker's own 134,000. Supported by his superior numbers, Hooker secretly moved 70,000 of his men fifteen miles up and across the river, and then ordered them to sneak back down to position themselves {#blank#}7{#/blank#} Lee's army. In effect, Hooker had cut off the Confederate soldiers in front and behind. They were trapped. Satisfied with his advantage, Hooker became convinced that Lee's only option was to retreat to Richmond, thus {#blank#}8{#/blank#} (assure) a Union victory.

    Yet Lee, despite his disadvantages of both numbers and position, did not retreat. Instead, he moved his troops into position to attack. Union soldiers who tried to warn Hooker that Lee was on the offensive {#blank#}9{#/blank#} (dismiss) as cowards. Having become convinced that Lee had no choice but {#blank#}10{#/blank#} (retreat), Hooker began to ignore reality. When Lee's army attacked the Union soldiers at 5:00 p.m., they were eating supper, completely unprepared for battle. They abandoned their rifles and fled as Lee's troops came shrieking out of the brush, bayonets drawn. Against all odds, Lee won the Battle of Chancellorsville, and Hooker's forces withdrew in defeat.

    The moment I was diagnosed with cancer, I decided that I would not let this "beast" win easily. I had no idea {#blank#}1{#/blank#} my treatment would be like, and I surely didn't think social media would be a way for me to conquer this "beast". However, by sharing{#blank#}2{#/blank#}(feel) on the Internet, I am able to remind myself, and my viewers, that everything is going to be okay. Their words are a big part of what helped me stay{#blank#}3{#/blank#}(hope). Besides, I have made several "cancer friends" so far, and we're determined to fight this battle together.

    Cold Food Day, which honors Jiezitui, a hermit (隐士) who lived some 2600 years ago, used to be observed {#blank#}1{#/blank#} (wide), but today few Chinese observe it except on and around the mountain on {#blank#}2{#/blank#} the hermit lived.

    Jiezitui served {#blank#}3{#/blank#} an advisor to Chong'er, a prince in the state of Jin. A civil war forced the prince {#blank#}4{#/blank#} (leave) Jin and Jie Zitui followed him. {#blank#}5{#/blank#}, when Chong'er returned and became the ruler of Jin, his followers were rewarded with money, land and official jobs {#blank#}6{#/blank#} Jie Zitui was overlooked.

    So Jie Zitui chose the life of a hermit on Mt. Mian, where he took care of his elderly mother. Chong'er's men set fires on Mt. Mian to drive him out of {#blank#}7{#/blank#} mountain and then reward him. But Jie and his mother refused and were burned to death. Out of {#blank#}8{#/blank#} (sad), Chong'er declared Cold Food Day in honor of him. It {#blank#}9{#/blank#} (celebrate) for centuries in China until {#blank#}10{#/blank#} (replace) by the more popular Tomb Sweeping Festival, which begins the day after.

    Schools in the UK are trying the use of classroom robots in {#blank#}1{#/blank#} attempt to ease the growing teacher shortage. So far, two primary schools in Plymouth {#blank#}2{#/blank#} (start)to use the machines as possible replacements for teaching assistants. Britain's lack of teaching staff has been worsening over the last decade and shows no sign of improving. {#blank#}3{#/blank#} (graduate) are unwilling to enter the primary   education department and many teachers are giving up the teaching jobs for careers in other fields. {#blank#}4{#/blank#} (face) with this alarming shortage, some schools believe that robots might soon be able to fill the gap. Tests have shown that teachers can train the robots within just three hours by showing {#blank#}5{#/blank#} (vary) classroom techniques. These methods are then copied by the robots and used in a real classroom setting {#blank#}6{#/blank#} real students are doing tasks. In one example, the robot teacher {#blank#}7{#/blank#} (success) guided the   students through {#blank#}8{#/blank#} (challenge) tasks, giving them praise and encouragement when necessary. The project has been met with mixed reactions from teachers. Some are concerned that the robots are here to take their jobs, {#blank#}9{#/blank#} others optimistically regard the machines {#blank#}10{#/blank#} a way to reduce their heavy workloads.

At the first light of day, Feng Tianqiong gets up to clean her Farmyard She runs an agritainment (农家乐) business and prepares local specialty chaihuoji, or roast chicken{#blank#}1{#/blank#}(cook) on firewood.

The 60-year-old farmer{#blank#}2{#/blank#}(welcome) her first guests at 10 am, and one hour later, visitors pack out of her farmyard sealing area in the Three Gorges reservoir region along the Yangtze River, {#blank#}3{#/blank#}(drive) from nearby cities for leisure travel during weekends or holidays.

Living in the Dazhou township in Southwest China's Chongqing, she{#blank#}4{#/blank#}(previous) managed to earn a living by farming. In March 2019, Feng opened her agritainment business after the local government built a landmark riverside 10-mile corridor and several tourist{#blank#}5{#/blank#}(attraction). These had spread on social media and become hot spots for photo shoots with their beautiful river views,

Last year alone r over 200,000 tourists crowded into Feng's town, leading to the emergence of 30 agritainment businesses{#blank#}6{#/blank#}three bed-and-breakfast venues in villages.

"It is all thanks to the government's efforts{#blank#}7{#/blank#}( promote) infrastructure (基础建设) and develop rural tourism," Feng says.

Feng's is among so many towns,{#blank#}8{#/blank#}have ridden the wave of rural tourism. The industry generated total revenue (税收) of 850 billion yuan nationwide last year.

{#blank#}9{#/blank#}more urban residents driving to the countryside for leisure on weekends and holidays, local villages have been transforming empty and old houses into agritainment businesses, aiming to catch up with the sector's rapid {#blank#}10{#/blank#}(expand).
