Mr. Robinson had to travel somewhere on business. As he was{#blank#}1{#/blank#}a hurry, he decided to go by air. He liked sitting beside a window when he was flying, {#blank#}2{#/blank#}when he got onto the plane, he looked for a window seat. He found all of them already {#blank#}3{#/blank#}(take) except one. There was a soldier sitting in the seat beside {#blank#}4{#/blank#}. Wondering why this one had not been taken, Mr. Robinson at once went towards it.

    When he reached it, however, Mr. Robinson saw that there was a notice stuck on the seat. It said, “This seat{#blank#}5{#/blank#}(keep) for proper load balance, thank you.” Because he had never seen such a kind of{#blank#}6{#/blank#}(usual) notice in a plane before, Mr. Robinson was a little surprised. But he thought that the plane must be carrying something {#blank#}7{#/blank#}(particular) heavy in it, so he walked on and found{#blank#}8{#/blank#}empty seat, not beside a window, to sit in.

    Two or three people tried to sit in the window seat beside the soldier, but they too read the notice and went on. When the plane was nearly full, a very pretty girl hurried into the plane. The soldier,{#blank#}9{#/blank#}was watching the passengers coming in, quickly took the notice off the seat beside his and in this way succeeded in having the company of a{#blank#}10{#/blank#}(beautiful) during the whole trip.

    A few people have lucid (清醒的) dreams, in {#blank#}1{#/blank#} the dreamer is aware they're dreaming and can control the experience. Some others can learn {#blank#}2{#/blank#} (have) lucid dreams. The practice can be used to deal with frightening dreams. However, its potential has been limited by it often {#blank#}3{#/blank#} (be) so hard to achieve. Now, researchers have developed the most effective method yet for promoting lucid dreams.

    The researchers let 121 adults aged 19 to 75 pick something {#blank#}4{#/blank#} (see)in a previous dream. It was called a "dreamsign" that can serve {#blank#}5{#/blank#} a reminder to become lucid when met again. The {#blank#}6{#/blank#} (volunteer) were then handed capsules. Each person got a high-dose (大剂量的) capsule, a low-dose capsule and a placebo (无效对照剂) capsule, but they couldn't tell which was which. On three occasions, they woke in {#blank#}7{#/blank#} middle of the night, took a capsule, imagined their dreamsign and went back to sleep. The high dose was most effective, causing lucid dreams in 42 per cent of participants. About 27 per cent {#blank#}8{#/blank#} (report) lucid dreams with the low dose and 14 per cent after taking the placebo capsule.

    The potential applications are {#blank#}9{#/blank#} (excite). "This new method has the success rate we need to be able to {#blank#}10{#/blank#} (proper) do research on lucid dreaming," says Denholm Aspy at the University of Adelaide in Australia.

    Today I will share a true story about an overseas student {#blank#}1{#/blank#} studied in Germany.

    After years of hard work, this student graduated with {#blank#}2{#/blank#}(amaze) achievements. Everyone was sure that he was going to get a good job easily and have a bright future. But to his surprise, he was not even given the chance for {#blank#}3{#/blank#} interview! The third time he {#blank#}4{#/blank#} (refuse), he couldn't help {#blank#}5{#/blank#}(telephone) the company to ask why they didn't want him. The answer was simple. "We don't offer jobs to dishonest people in Germany."

    You might wonder what was wrong. The truth is, shortly after he {#blank#}6{#/blank#} (arrive) in Germany, this clever student found that {#blank#}7{#/blank#} was easy to skip(逃票) buying subway tickets in this country. So in order to save money, he often went in the subway without a ticket. As a result, he had been caught without a ticket many {#blank#}8{#/blank#} (time).

    From this story, we learn that we may get short-term benefits(好处)in dishonest ways, {#blank#}9{#/blank#} the truth will come out sooner or later and the cost is high. So remember that {#blank#}10{#/blank#}(honest) is the rule.
