    The new term is coming! It's time for school. Last term, I make little effort on my English, but my grades were not satisfying. During the holiday, I realized English was of great important and made up my mind to make a progress.     Miss Zhang is one of my most favorite teachers. She has a slim build and always ties his hair in a ponytail. She is 35, but she looks quite young at her age. Which impresses me most is Miss Zhang's way of teaching. She devotes herself to teach and prepares well for every class. Not only did she help us to understand “what", but she explores “why". She encourages us to think independent and have discussions among ourselves when we faced with problems. She is such a inspiring person with a strong sense of responsibilities, and we all respect and admire her.

    The writing class had just began. Everyone was silent, wait to see who would be announce to read his or her paragraphs aloud. Some of us are confident to take part this class activity, while others were nervous. Though I had done my homework well, but I was afraid to speak before a large group of people. My father once said, "The classroom is a place where includes learning from my courage." Remembering which my father had said, I raised my hand immediate.

    Three years ago I failed an important exam in my life and become a student in an ordinary school. Disappointing as I felt at the shabby campus and the poorly-equipped classroom, I found the teachers patiently and considerate. Besides, I enjoyed the friendly atmosphere in class. I decided make the best of it. I worked hard and got along good with my teachers and classmates. Whenever I had difficulty, they are always available. Soon, I became one of the top student in my class, and which greatly increased my confidence and got me motivated.

    My experience tell me that it is not what you are given but how you make use for it that determines who you are.

    Last summer, I got a part-time job as a waiter. I worked hard and very helpful. Everyone in a restaurant including some regular customer liked me. One day, a foreign couple in their fifties entered into the restaurant. I was happy to have a chance to practice their spoken English. I went up to greet them warm. After I took their order, I told them their food will be served quickly because we Chinese respect the elderly. After heard my words, a look of displeasure appeared on the wife's face. Seeing my confusing look, her husband explained to me the Westerners disliked the description "old". I apologized to them but realized the importance of knowing cultural differences.
