    Bill always does everything very carefully．Everyday he drives his car to go to work and go home．He drives his car slowly and never has an accident．He often says that travelling by car is much safer than travelling by plane．

    Today，he has to go to another city to have a meeting．The meeting will begin at nine o'clock．And it is eight now．If Bill goes there by train or by car, he will be late for the meeting．Bill has no idea．One of his friends，John，says to him，"Don't worry, Bill．I can take you there in my own small plane．And we can get there at half past eight．"Bill is afraid of going there by plane．John tells him that it is very safe．Bill gets on the plane at last．

    John starts the plane and begins taking off．Bill is too afraid，so he closes his eyes．After a minute or two，he opens them again，looking out of the window of the plane，and says to John，"Look at those people down there，they look as small as ants." "But they are ants." says John．"Don't you know we are still on the ground?"

    As we all know，having a great memory is important．It can help you succeed in school，in your job，and in life．It also helps you learn faster and better．We all know that fast learner's are always in demand．If you have a great memory, I'm sure you can succeed more easily．

    If you are willing to make a few changes in your life．you should improve your memory first．My plan is to explain every skill that can help you improve your memory．

    You can not only learn memory skills on this website，but also learn how to improve your memory through diet，exercise，sleep and other ways．

    I think that memory improvement can be achieved (实现)in two ways：improving the health of your brain and using memory skills．Many people think they may be difficult．In fact, they are easier to do than you might think，but you have to work hard by yourself.

    Memory improvement needs time and effort on your part．You cannot improve your memory if you do not work on it．Of course，I believe that a more powerful brain is well worth the effort!

    Here are a few of the great memory improvement tips．I will give you some tips in the following part．

    Many great inventions changed the way we live.The first great invention was one that is still very important today--the wheel．

    There were few inventions that had as much influence as the wheel for many years．In the early 1800s,the world started to change .There was little unknown land left in the world．People began to work to make it life better．

    In the 19th century，many great inventions such as the camera，the light and the telephone came into being．

    The 20th century saw more great inventions．Movies with sound in 1910．The computer in 1946. And jet planes in the 1930s．Nylon came out in 1935．It changed the kind of clothes people wear.

    By this time man had a strong wish to explore again．The worm was known to man but the stars were not．Man began looking for ways to go into space．Russia made the first step．Then the United States took a step．Since then other countries，including China and Japan，have made their steps into space．

    In 1969,man took his biggest step from the Earth．An American first walked on the Moon．This is just a beginning．New inventions will someday allow us to do things we have never thought．

    Night after night，she came to help me sleep，even long after my childhood years．

    I don't remember when it first started making me a little angry-my mom's hands pushing my hair that way．But it really made me uncomfortable，for they felt rough against my young skin．Finally, one night，I shouted at her．"Don't do that anymore．Your hands are too rough!" She didn't say anything, but she never did it again．

    Years later, I missed my mother's hands and her goodnight kiss on my face. I was not a little girl anymore. My mom was in her mid—seventies, and her rough hands were still doing things for my family and me．   

    Now my own children have grown up．It was late on Thanksgiving Eve．As I slept in my bedroom，a familiar hand ran across my face to push the hair from my head. Then a kiss，ever so softly, touched my forehead．

    Taking my mom's hand，I told her how sorry I was for that night I shouted at her．But my mom didn't know what I was talking about．She had forgotten it for long．

    That night，I fell asleep with a new appreciation for my mother's caring hands. And the guilt that I had carried around for so long was nowhere to be found．

    Lots of students think Maths is hard to learn well，because the tell simple numbers can make up too many difficult numbers and there also are too many ways to calculate them．It really makes people tired and headache．In fact，learning Maths is like learning another language，so at first it will be hard but it will get easier gradually．Here are some important suggestions to remember when earning Maths．

    Create learning time．Make sure you have at least an hour a day to learning Maths．

    Try to learn about the vocabulary．Keep a Maths dictionary by your side as you study．Many areas of Maths require knowing some Maths vocabularies and when you don't understand them，you are able to look up the meanings quickly．

    Get at least two reference books(参考书)on the Maths questions you are learning．This way，you will have two different explanations and one of the explanations may be easier than the other；or both of the explanations will help you to "get it"．

    Review the knowledge you have learnt before．Many Maths concepts(概念)are related and knowing one helps you understand the other．If you didn't understand one concept，you should stop to review them in time．In this way．you can learn the new one easily．

    Practise with many problems．Do as many Maths problems as you can，including the problems beyond the class．This will make you have the stronger ability to get a higher score．

    Always ask for help if you don't know how to do something．If you have trouble doing a Maths problem．ask your teachers or classmates for help．They will be glad to help you．Also never stop trying to learn something because it is too hard to keep working at it．
