Taos is a small town in New Mexico, USA. Many people come here for a visit every year. They do not come to see the beautiful scenes (景色) 1 eat delicious food. They come to listen to a kind of 2 sound: the Taos Hum. 

The word "hum" means a low sound that never stops. 3 is the sound strange? Firstly, the Taos Hum that people hear is quite 4 . Someone says it sounds like a little bee (蜜蜂) flying around you. Others think it sounds like a car moving in a faraway (遥远的) place. Secondly, 5 knows where the sound comes from. Joe Mullins, a scientist from the University of New Mexico, is one of the first persons to do 6 on the hum. He put some instruments in places where people could hear the hum, but those instruments couldn't "hear" any hum! Others who wanted to find the hum failed, too.

The tradition of drinking morning tea dates back to over 150 years ago in Guanadong. During the Qing Dynasty, there was a small restaurant in Guanazhou called "Yi Li Pavilion（一里亭）". It was a place for chatting（聊天）and serving tea and snacks. It was the first tea house in Guangdong. The local people fell in love with this kind of dining. So more and more tea houses appeared. 

Little by little, the local people got into the habit of drinking morning tea at a tea house. For the local people in Guangdong, drinking morning tea at a tea house is not only a lifestyle but also an important way of social communication. Friends meet and talk about their daily lives. Even many businessmen drink morning tea while discussing their business. If you get to visit Guangdong, don't forget to enjoy morning tea for yourself.

Some parents have asked about the rules about dress at Popular School. Please read and buy the right uniforms for your children this winter. 

Children can be allowed to wear blue scarves or white scarves to school. But they aren't allowed to wear hats. 

The school uniform must be clean. Girls with long hair must tie（扎）their hair with yellow ribbons（丝带）. 

Children can only wear sports shoes to school if they have a PE lesson that day. They are allowed to wear white sports shoes only.

Many children use the Internet to get useful knowledge and information, and to relax in their free time. But some of them are not using it in a good way. Here are some rules to make sure you are safe and have fun on the Internet. 

●Make rules for Internet use with your parents. For example, when you can go online, for how long and what activities you can do online. 

●Don't give your password(密码) to anyone else, and never leak out(泄露) the following information: your real name, home address, age, school, phone number or other personal information. 

●Check with your parents before giving out a credit card(信用卡) number. . 

●Never send a photo of yourself to someone in e-mail unless your parents say it's OK.

●Check with your parents before going into a chat(聊天) room. Different chat rooms have different rules and attract different kinds of people. You and your parents must make sure it's a right place for you. 

●Never agree to meet someone you met on the Internet without your parents' permission. Never meet anyone you met online alone. 

●Always remember that people online may not be who they say they are. Treat everyone online as strangers. 

●If something you see or read online makes you uncomfortable, leave the site(站点). Tell a parent or teacher right away. 

●Treat other people as you'd like to be treated. Never use bad language. 

●Remember—not everything you read on the Internet is true. 

Babies sleep up to eighteen hours a day. Mrs. Thatcher and Napoleon both said they only needed to sleep three or four hours a night. Sleep—No one can live without it. But how much do we really need? 

Research by the National Sleep Foundation in Washington says that we all need eight hours' sleep every night. Scientists have found that people who sleep for less than six and a half hours a night are more often ill than people who sleep for eight hours. Going without sleep also increases the chance of serious illness. Workaholics who sleep for less than five hours often die young, and do less well at work. 

The scientists found that, on average(平均起来), adults sleep for seven hours a night, with 32% sleeping less than six hours. It also says that the idea that we need less sleep when we get older is completely untrue. "People have no idea how important sleep is to their lives," Dr. Thomas Roth, director of the Foundation says. "Good health needs good sleep."

"But not too much of it," says Professor Jim Home of Loughborough University. "Sleep is like food and drink," he believes, "You would always like to have a little bit more, but that doesn't mean you need it." Professor Home studied a group of people who could spend as many hours as they wanted in bed; after sleeping ten hours, they didn't find that they could get up easily either. And people who sleep for more than nine hours a night die younger than people who usually sleep for seven or eight! 

One year, a British expedition（探险队）got lost in the Sahara Desert（撒哈拉沙漠）. The sun was burning hot. Everyone quickly ran out of . If they made a wrong decision, then they could all  soon. 

At this time, the leader took out a water kettle （壶）and said, "I found a kettle of water in my bag. But before we pass through the desert,  is allowed to drink it." The kettle of water  the faith（信心）for everyone to cross the desert. . 

Finally, the expedition made it out of the desert. With tears of joy, they opened the kettle with shaking  —but sand not water! 

Was it a kettle of sand that  saved them in the desert? The answer is no. Their deep faith in the hope of survival（生存）,  a seed（种子）, had taken root（植根）and grown in their hearts. That is what led them out of the  situation in the end. 

In fact,  hard time you face, as long as there is a seed of faith in your heart, don't give up  , then you'll succeed（成功）.
