The University of Tokyo has several museums covering various fields such as medicine, agriculture and art. Here are brief introductions about their histories and exhibits.
◆The University Museum
Having collected over three million academic materials for its collection since the University of Tokyo was founded in 1877, the University Museum is the largest museums of its kind in Japan. From the time its reorganization into an independent entirely in May 1996, the University Museum has held planned exhibitions over 60 times.
◆The Museum of Health and Medicine
The Museum of Health and Medicine seeks to provide information about health and medicine to the general public and advance education for students studying medicine. The museum features both a permanent exhibition space and a temporary exhibition space, with the latter focusing on topics related to medical care and the study of medicine.
◆The Agricultural Museum
The Agricultural Museum displays materials from the collection of the University's Graduate School of Agricultural and Life Sciences. Notable items on display include the documents and pictures of scientists attached to the university, inner organs of Japan's famous dog Hachiko, and drawings showing German agriculture and the varieties of Japanese cows.
◆The Farm Museum
The Farm Museum opened in 2007 within a dairy barn. The barn was built in 1934 as part of the moving of the University of Tokyo's farm from Komaba to Tanashi, an area in western Tokyo. The museum features both permanent and temporary exhibitions. Permanent exhibitions include European farming tools used on the Komaba Farm, tools for agricultural experiments, agricultural machinery, American tractors and drawings showing German agriculture.
A Chicago six-year-old girl's decision to feed the homeless instead of receiving presents on her birthday is touching the hearts of many not only in the area, but also across the country.
Armani Crews had been begging her parents for a few months to feed homeless people in her community.
"I said, 'OK, we'll make some sandwiches, ' to which Armani said, 'No. I want the same thing we'd have at my birthday party, '" her mother recalled.
Even when her father, Antoine, told her that if she wanted to go through with this, she wouldn't get a birthday gift, the girl, whose birthday was March 5, wouldn't give in.
So the Chicago family spent about $300 buying food to send to homeless people in the city's East Garfield Park neighborhood. They bought chicken, fish, corn, green beans, mashed potatoes, rolls, cake, cookies, fruit and water.
After Armani mentioned her plan at the family's local church, the church members donated (捐赠) other items to create care packages for the homeless.
Armani's birthday party was a success, with the family feeding more than 125 people who gathered.
In a statement, the six-year-old girl told ABC News, "It was nice to be nice." Her mother added, "She was excited and happy. Everybody was being fed. One gentleman said he hadn't had a hot meal in a long time."
Earthquake rescue robots have experienced their final tests in Beijing. Their designers say with these robots, rescuers will be able to save lives during an earthquake.
This robot looking like a helicopter, is called the detector-bot. It's about 4 meters long, and it took about 4 years to develop the model. Its main functions (作用) are to collect information from the air, and send goods of up to 30 kilos, to people trapped by an earthquake.
This robot has a high definition 360 degree panoramic (全景) camera. It can work day and night and will also be able to send the latest pictures from the quake area.
Dr. Qi Juntong, Chinese Academy of Science, said, "The most important feature of this robot is that it doesn't need a distant control. We just set the destination (目的地) information on it, and then it takes off, and lands by itself. It flies as high as 3,000 meters, and as fast as 100 kilometers per hour."
This robot has a different function — it can change as the environment changes. Its main job is to search for any signs of life in places where human rescuers are unable to go.
As well as a detector (探测器) that finds victims and detects poisonous gas, a camera is placed in the 40 centimeter long robot, which can work in the dark.
Another use for the rescuers is the supply part, with its 10 meter long pipe. People who are trapped in the ruins, will be able to get supplies including oxygen and liquids.
Experts have said that the robots will enter production, and serve as part of the national earth-quake rescue team as soon as next year.
Sometimes life can seem challenging (挑战的) and we usually get the feeling of "the grass on the other side is always greener"! We usually feel upset with the troubles that life throws at us.
The best thing to do at that point of time is to close our eyes and start counting of all the blessings in life that God has given us.
If we think deeply, our life is full of blessings that we hardly recognize. Listening to the singing of birds early in the morning, we realize that there are many people who spend their life in a world that is silent while many others spend their lives in a world that is dark and may have never seen a rainbow or the setting sun.
When you go out for a drive, pull down the window and look at the poor beggar standing under the hot sun, begging for filling his hungry stomach. We get three meals a day without realizing its importance. Isn't that a blessing?
Whenever you are sad, look at the eyes of your parents and family filled with love and concern for you. There are many people who have never experienced the love of a family. Isn't that a blessing?
As Mother Teresa once said, "We don't need to do great things. We need to do small things with great love".
The key to a happy life is when we consider others problems to be our own and try to help them. When we love people without any expectations and help them, our heart is filled with a sense of happiness and peace seeing the smile on their face.

No one promised life would be perfect.
Don't base your happiness on meeting every expectation you set for yourself. It is good to be ambitious, but you'll never be perfect. If you expect otherwise, your life will be filled with disappointments.
