Live naturally
This is probably the easiest way to live a healthy lifestyle. Be among nature as much as you can. Plant trees around your house. Avoid using harmful things to the environment, like plastics, chemicals and other man-made equipment. A natural lifestyle is a healthy lifestyle. Protect our nature and nature will protect us.
Helen has always been interested in helping her community. Her first volunteer experience was for the American Red Cross when she was in high school.
When she was a school teacher, she also found time to volunteer. After she retired, she started volunteering to help the old. Helen says, "The real value of volunteer work is becoming friends with the people I help, They enrich my life as well as I enrich theirs."
The world uses about a thousand million (百万) tons of water a day. Water is a human right and everyone should have their share. Yet more than 700 million people around the world have trouble getting clean, safe water.
Treating waste water is a good way to provide fresh water for us. And it also helps the environment by keeping waste out of rivers and oceans. 80% of waste water around the world is not treated at all, and it is running into oceans. But now we have got the technology to treat and reuse the waste water. While 75% of our planet is covered with water, only about 2% is freshwater- that comes from rivers, lakes, ice and snow. The rest, 98% of the water, is in seas and oceans. It is too salty to drink. Then desalination businesses come in. More than 19000 factories have been built around the world, mostly in coastal countries. They process (加工) more than 92 million tons of water every day. But the technology they use requires a lot of energy.
Scientists are working to create a less costly technology. They want to produce 20 times more clean water and make sure everyone has enough. But for now, the world still faces each day with not having enough water for everyone.
Project Hope is an educational program to help students. It started in 1989. It has aided 4.5 million children in poor areas to go to schools and it has b 18002 Project Hope Schools. It has encouraged the moral(发展)and modern thinking of students. As a result, the students in Hope schools respect their teachers, aid the poor, and help one another. It is the best known and most s education program in China. But it is not enough to solve all the problems of the poor. There are some reasons. The large population is one of the most serious problems. Though the government has taken many measures to c the population, we still have a long way to go. As for us, we can take part in some (志愿者) activities to help some poor kids.
Cooperation(合作)and competition are both important. They're necessary for a person to achieve success in life.
Learn to be cooperative with others. No one likes a selfish (自私的) or greedy (贪婪的) person. However, everyone likes a cooperative and (friend) person. Everything we do today, whether doing business making friends, depends on our ability to get along with one another. In our society, most (task) need cooperation in order that they can be (finish) well. So we must try to be cooperative. Each person is like a small part of a machine. If one part is out of order, the machine can't be running well. Besides, transportation and communication systems are developing (quick), and people all over the world can keep in with each other more easily. It's hard for a person is away from the society to have a deep understanding of the world he lives in. Cooperation is (become) more and more important for a person to lead a good life.
Being competitive also has a place in life. If we want to get more success and be better than others, we must work and study carefully. The desire (欲望) to succeed and do better than others encourages to work harder. If there was no competition, a sports meeting would never be exciting.
