Mr Henry spent about sixteen hours on the train. As soon as he 8 , he saw his daughter standing there to meet him. Ann ran up to him and found that her father looked pale.
“What's the matter with you,Dad?” Ann asked 9.
“Nothing,” answered Mr Henry. “I'm just not used to sitting backwards in the train.”
“Oh,dear,” laughed the girl. “Why didn't you exchange 10 with the man opposite you?” “How can I do that?” answered Mr Henry. “No one sat opposite me!”
It happened many years ago, but I still remember it clearly. That day I was invited to work as a contest judge (评委) at a college. All of the students had been given a piece of paper with a topic on it. The first one to speak looked a little unhappy. “My fellow students and respected judges,” he said loudly, “this is an unfair (不公平的) contest!” “I have been given this paper,” he continued, “to speak on a topic with just a few minutes' preparation while those coming after me have more time to work on their speeches!” He then left the stage and went out of the hall.
I met him later by chance. “Who says life is fair?” I asked him with a smile, and I asked him to walk with me to my car. “Have you seen the numbers they show when a new car is being introduced into the market, saying how economic (经济的) it is?” “Yes,” he nodded “But they put a line after all these numbers. They say all the numbers are in ideal (理想的) road conditions!” “Yes,” he said again. “Can you show me some ideal road conditions?” I asked him,and he smiled. “The car that sells well is the one that will provide power and speed on the worst roads. That car is the winner!”
We had reached my car. “Don't look for ideal contest conditions,” I said. “Fight the unfair and come out a winner!”
I looked back as I drove away and saw him smile and wave to me.

China's introduction of the two-child policy has caused worry that the change will further make the shortage of pediatricians (儿科医生) worse.
The number of pediatricians in China dropped from 105,000 to around 100,000 within five years, according to China's public health statistical (统计的) yearbook in 2015. On average, there are only 43 doctors per 100,000 children.
Wang Baoxi, a pediatrician with the Shaanxi branch of Chinese Medical Doctor Association, told Xinhua that situation was even worse in smaller cities and counties. In Weinan City, which is about 70 kilometers away from Shaanxi's capital Xi'an, they only had 17 doctors to care for 100,000 children.
The Lingnan branch of No.3 Hospital Affiliated (附属的) with Sun Yat-sen University posted a notice telling people emergency treatment services in the pediatric department were canceled due to lack of doctors. "Since the department was finished in 2011, we have employed eight doctors. Four left in the following years,” said Shan Yutao, who works in the hospital's medical management office.
The shortage of pediatricians has made it difficult for parents. Low salary, high pressure and high risk are the main causes behind people's reluctance (不情愿) to become pediatricians.
According to the National Health and Family Planning Commission, 90 million Chinese women are allowed to have a second child under the two-child policy, which took effect on Jan. 1, 2016.
An Haiyan, an official with the Shaanxi provincial health and family planning commission, suggested that more attention be paid to pediatric departments in hospitals, and pediatricians be given subsidy (补贴) for their work.
① Because pediatricians have low salary.
② Because pediatricians have high risk.
③ Because pediatricians' work is hard.
④ Because pediatricians have high pressure.

When you help others, it will make you feel better about yourself. Having lots of volunteer hours will make your resume (履历) look good!

Can you write the Chinese characters “ganga” (embarrassment) correctly? Do you know how to write characters like “tiaozhou” (broom)?
If you can't, you're not alone. Nowadays, most people are typing into computers instead of writing on paper. We type Chinese characters largely according to their pronunciations. The result is to recognize characters without remembering how to write them.
China Youth Daily once did a survey among about 2,500 people, in which about 99 percent said they had once forgotten how to write a common Chinese character.
Compared to adults, teenagers are better at writing Chinese characters because they spend more time learning and practising at school. However, the influence of digital technology cannot be ignored (忽视),according to He Yu, head of a research team for Chinese teaching at a Beijing high school.
“Many students are obsessed (沉迷于) with digital devices such as electronic dictionaries and computers to help with their studies. Overuse of these tools will make students too lazy to think and write,” he said.
Such worries have brought about a popular TV show titled Chinese Spelling Hero, which focuses on Chinese character writing among teenagers. In April, the Ministry of Education called for a better calligraphy (书法) education in schools. Organizations like the China Calligraphers Association are also working to train more teachers in calligraphy.
Interestingly, calligraphy teachers can't always avoid the effects of modem technology. Shen Bin is a calligraphy teacher at a primary school in Beijing. She admitted that it's common for teachers like her to forget certain words.
“The calligraphy class is also a good chance for me to remember how to write,” she said.
An artist found that he had not yet painted the one “real” picture.
In his search, he met a priest (牧师) who asked him he was going.
“I don't know,” said the artist. “I want , (paint) the most beautiful thing in the world.”
“How easy!” replied the priest. “It is Faith.”
The artist travelled on. Later, he met a woman told him that the most beautiful thing in the world was “Love”. “Love (make) the world a better place,” she said. (late) he met a soldier. The artist asked him same question and the soldier said “Peace” was the most beautiful thing in the world.
“How can I paint —Faith, Love and Peace?” thought the artist.
As he entered the doorway, light shone in his j (eye) and he realized that his search was over. In the faces of his wife and children, he saw Love and Faith. He sat in his favorite old chair comfortably and his heart (be) at peace.
The artist painted the most beautiful thing in the world and (call) it “HOME”.
