Hundreds of people have formed impressions of you through that little device (装置) on your desk. And they've never actually 1you.     Powerful, yes, but not always 6. For years I dealt with my travel agent only by phone. Rani, my faceless agent whom I'd never met7got me rock-bottom prices on airfares, cars, and hotels. But her cold voice really 8 me. I sometimes wished to9 another agent.

    One morning, I had to 10 an immediate flight home for a family emergency. I ran into Rani's office 11. The woman sitting at the desk12 my madness, sympathetically jumped up. Sitting back in the car on the way to the airport, I figured it all out. Rani's 19—her warm smile, her nods, her 'I'm here for you'20—were all silent signals that didn't travel through wires.

    You've been around forever. I can remember all the pain you've caused me.

    Do you remember the night when you almost took my father's life? I do. He loves you. Sometimes I think he loves you more than he loves me. He's addicted to you, to the way you promise to rid him of his problems only to cause more of them. You just sat back and laughed as his car went turning through the street, crashing into two other cars. He wasn't the only one badly hurt by you that night.

    Do you remember the night of my first high school party? My friends were intrigued by you. They treated you as if they were never going to see you again, drinking all of you that they could. I spent two hours that night helping my friends who had fallen head over heels for you. “I'm so embarrassed,” they said as I held their hair back so that they could throw up. “I'm sorry,” they said when I called taxis for them, walking them out and paying the driver in advance. “This won't happen again,” they said as they were sent to the hospital to have their stomachs pumped. Two 15-year-old girls slept in hospital beds that night due to you.

    Do you remember the night when you took advantage of my 17-year-old neighbor who had to drive to pick up his sister from her dance lesson? Do you know how we all felt when he hit another car head-on and killed two people in the other car? He died the next morning, too. His sister walked home from her dance lesson, and passed police cars and a crowd of people gathering on the sidewalk just two blocks away from the dance studio. She didn't realize her brother was among them at all. She never saw him again. And it was all your fault.

    I wish you'd walk out of my life forever. I don't want anything to do with you. Look at all the pain you've caused. Sure, you've made people happy too from time to time. But the damage you've caused in the lives of millions is not excusable. Stop attracting the people I love! Stop hurting me, please!

    A warm drink of milk before bed has long been the best choice for those wanting a good night's sleep. But now a study has found it really does help people nod off—if it is milked from a cow at night.

    Researchers have discovered that “night milk” contains more melatonin (褪黑激素), which has been proven to help people feel sleepy and reduce anxiety.

    The study, by researchers from Seoul, South Korea, involved mice being fed with dried milk powder made from cows milked both during the day and at night.

    Those given night milk, which contained 10 times the amount of melatonin, were less active and less anxious than those fed with the milk collected during daytime, according to the study published in The Journal of Medicinal Food.

    Night milk quickened the start of sleep and caused the mice to sleep longer.

    While the effect of cows milk harvested at different time has not been tested on humans up to now, taking melatonin drugs has been suggested to those who are struggling to fall asleep at night.

    Previous studies have also indicated that milk can be excellent for helping sleep because of the calcium content, which helps people to relax.

    Milk is also sugar-free and additive-free with nutritionists recommending skimmed milk as the best choice before bed as it is the least fattening. The more fat you take in before bedtime, the greater burden you will put on your body at night.

    Several years ago, my parents, my wife, my son and I ate at one of those restaurants where the menu is written on a blackboard. After a wonderful dinner, the waiter set the check in the middle of the table. That's when it happened：my father did not reach for the check.

    Conversation continued. Finally I realized that I should pick up the check! After hundreds of restaurant meals with my parents, after a lifetime of thinking of my father as the one with dollars, it had all changed. I reached for the check, and my view of myself suddenly changed. I was an adult. I was no longer a kid (child).

Some people mark off (区分) their lives in years, I measure mine in small events. I didn't become a young man at a particular age, like 16, but rather when a kid who wandered in the streets called me "mister". These events in my life are called "milestones"(里程碑).

    There have been other milestones. The cops (policemen) of my youth always seemed big, even huge, and of course they were older than I was. Then one day they were suddenly neither. The day came when I suddenly realized that all the football players in the game I was watching were younger than I was. They were just big kids. With that milestone gone was the dream that someday, maybe I, too, could be a football player. Without ever having reached the hill, I was over it.

    I never thought that I would fall asleep in front of the TV set as my father did. Now it's what I do best. I never thought that I would go to the beach and not swim, yet I spent all of August at the shore and never once went into the ocean. I never thought that I would appreciate opera, but now the combination of voice and orchestra attracts me. I never thought that I would prefer to stay home in the evenings, but now I find myself passing up parties. I used to think that people who watched birds were strange, but this summer I found myself watching them, and maybe I'll get a book on the subject. I feel a strong desire for a religious belief that I never thought I'd want, feel close to my ancestors long gone, and echo my father in arguments with my son. I'll still lose….

    One day I bought a house. One day－What a day!－I became a father, and not too long after that I picked up the check for my own father. I thought then it was a milestone for me. One day, when I was a little older, I realized it was one for him too, another milestone．

    Learn to control your anger

    There are no easy steps to control your anger. The important thing is to allow yourself time to be better at each small step of the way.

Realize the disadvantages of anger

     You often hear of people saying that it is OK to let your anger out. But it just feeds anger more as you are focused on it. Realize that you are angry and know that there is nothing positive in being angry.

    Anger is just a kind of feeling. It often happens in the following situation. When you realize that it is a feeling then you know there is something you can do about it. It's not something uncontrollable.

    Learn to be patient

    Patience is one of the best ways to control your anger. It allows your mind to clear. You need to recognize the feeling and then step away. As you realize more, you will stay more in control.

Understand yourself

    Have the wisdom to learn about yourself. Let go of your sense of what is right and wrong,should or should not. When you have the wisdom to see things for what they truly are, then   your outbursts of anger will become less frequent as you practice these steps.

    Will you continue to be angry even though you know these steps? But just like everything you practice, you will become more skillful at it and you will be able to control your anger better.

    Today is Mother's Day. I love mother so much that I've done many things for him. In the morning I buy some flowers with my pocket money and put them in a vase. In the afternoon, I went to buy some vegetable and cooked simple but delicious dinner for my family. After the meal, I gave mother a card what I made myself and said “Happy Mother's Day” to her.
