Mary Krupa became friends with the grey squirrels during her first week at Penn State,after spotting them running around and idly（漫不经地）wondering what they would look like with tiny hats on their heads.Today, everyone at the university knows her as the "Squirrel Girl".
Mary started bringing them food,and gradually they began to trust her.She managed to put a hat on a squirrel and take a picture.Thinking that her colleagues could do with something to lift up their spirits,she started posting similar Photos on Facebook.The response Was greatly positive,and before long Mary and her squirrels became an Internet sensation.
Growing up in a neighborhood outside State College,Mary was always fond of birds and animals around her home,but she didn't interact with people very much.She was later diagnosed with Asperger's syndrome,but the squirrels changed that.The squirrels are actually a good way to break the ice,because I'll be sitting here patting a squirrel and other people will come over and well just start like feeding the squirrels together and chatting about them,"she said."I am a lot more outgoing.
And in case you're wondering how Mary is able to get the squirrels to do what she wants for her photos,it has a lot to do with food.For example,whenever she wants them to hold or play with something,she puts peanut butter on the prop（道具）,and they'll grab it.But getting to that part took a while.In the beginning,she would throw peanuts up the trees on campus and invite the squirrels to come down and get them,but they hesitated to approach her.She had the patience to earn their trust,though.
This year,Mary is graduating with a degree in English and wildlife sciences.She wants to be a science writer and educate people on how to preserve the environment.As for her furry friends,Mary plans to stay in the area and visit them as often as she can.
Parents in Spain are being urged to go on a weekend homework strike this month in protest against the unacceptable amount of after-school tasks their children are given.The homework load of Spanish children has long been a sore point with some parents,who argue that the burden is too great,places too much pressure on pupils and eats into family time.
According to a study by the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD),Spanish 15-year-olds have 6.5 hours of homework a Week compared with an average of 4.9 across the 38 OECD countries. The Spanish Confederation of Associations of Mothers and Fathers of Students (Ceapa) is calling on parents whose children attend Spanish state schools to boycott weekend homework in November.
"We've lost a bit of common sense in this country when it comes to talking about education and we've got a system in which boys' and girls' free time has disappeared",said Jos Luis Pazos,president of Ceapa."Schools are passing on tasks to families that they shouldn't be.It starts with children from the ages of three to six doing half an hour's homework every day.For us,that's an unacceptable situation".
Pazos said Ceapa disagreed with the belief that children should endure huge amounts of homework in the hope that it would ensure them a better future.They should be.happy when they're little and that life isn't just about someone telling you that you have to suffer inexplicably（难以理解地）.The model needs to change because society has changed.
Schoolchildren have to fit their homework around the school day,which varies from region to region and school to school,but starts early from around 8 am or 9 am and finishes anywhere between 2 pm and 5 pm.However,schools are increasingly using an 8 am-2 pm timetable to save money and in the face of evidence that suggests the longer hours do not yield better results.
A spokesman for the education department of Madrid said homework was a matter for individual schools rather than regional governments.They're the ones who know best what the need is in each case.
Growing up in Wyoming,everyday life was an adventure—I spent my time camping,and exploring mountains. Sailing is considered a hard-to-break-into sport.And,generally,there are only two ways to get into it—either through a strict sailing education that leads to experience or by growing up on the water and racing in the Olympics. Most of my teammates became professional sailors in one of these two ways but I skipped both.
In the summer of 2008,I went to St.Croix through a college internship（实习）program focusing on educating locals about HIV and AIDs.There,I discovered my love for sailing.Then,SCA,a global hygiene（卫生保健）company, made the decision to support an all-female team,and when they began accepting applications,I knew it was the chance of a lifetime.I made it my task to become a part of the team.Even when it seemed like there were no positions left,I never gave up.
After a stressful,two-year application process,I finally got the call.I moved to Lanzarote in the Canary Islands and began training with the team immediately.The process was physically,mentally and emotionally exhausting,but I finally achieved my goal.I sailed in the "Everest of sailing" with only six years' experience.Later,there was an all-female team competing,and I was lucky enough to be a part of it.
As women,we need to approach our dreams as if we deserve to achieve them as much as men,because we do. There are plenty of professions,including sailing,in which women are absent or have a minor presence—but that's not because they shouldn't be there.We need to push the boundaries and focus on obtaining our goals and passions,no matter how unobtainable and challenging they may seem.

UK food delivery service company—Just Eat is changing the delivery game.The company is responsible the first food delivery in London using robots.
Just Eat sent the six-wheeled robot by Starship Technologies to Turkish restaurant Taksim Meze(pick) up the order.The robot then made(it)way to the customer with the food(safe) protected from thieves in a locked case.The customers then used a code(supply) by Just Eat to unlock the machine's storage case.
First shown off at Mobile world congress back in February,the robot usesvariety of cameras,sensors and GPS trackers to find the way along the pavements to its destination.
Just Eat says the company wants to use the robots more often across London in 2017it also plans to keep delivery robots unique to the UK although Starship Technologies is running many test(delivery) in other parts of the world.
