Three Japanese tourists taking a holiday in Australia got stuck when their GPS told them they could drive from the mainland to an island, failing to mention the 15 kilometres of water and mud in between.
As they drove their hired car from Moreton Bay to nearby North Stradbroke Island, they started to notice the firm surface they were driving on giving way to the wellknown bay mud. However, being confident that their GPS would direct them to a road soon, they decided to drive on, managing to travel around 500 metres before their car was up to its tires in mud. To make matters worse, the tide (潮汐) started to come in and soon forced them to seek help and abandon the vehicle. Just four hours later the car was trapped in two metres of water—to the great amusement of onlookers on the shore and passengers on passing boats and ferries.
Yuzu Noda, 21, said she was listening to the GPS and "it told us we could drive down there. It kept saying it would navigate (导航) US to a road. But we got stuck… there's lots of mud". She and her travel companions Tomonari Saeki, 22, and Keita Osada, 21, instead had to give up their plans for a day trip to the island and headed back to the Gold Coast of a lift from the RACQ tow truck (吊车) driver who was called to the trapped car. No such luck for the hired car, though—after assessing the situation, no attempt was made to recover it. The students from Tokyo, who are due to return home tomorrow, said the experience would not put them off returning to Australia for another visit. Mr Tomonari said, "It has rained every day on our six day holiday. Hopefully next time we come back it will be sunny. "
The car was covered by insurance, but the tourists will have to pay up to about $1,500 in extra charges.
When I decided to quit my job as a wedding photographer, I was in my late twenties, fresh from my divorce from Bob who had left me empty and confused. I decided to leave the US and travel. I had no savings, plus more than $5,000 in debt. What I did have were two sponsored tasks as a travel photographer—and with that along, I thought, it would be easy.
My first experience was a road trip from Toronto to Las Vegas, paid for by a car delivery service. Other trips followed and then I started a travel blog (博客). It was intended to be my calling card for assignment travel photography. Yet even with my blog and past experience, email after email I sent to publications, trying to get work, went unanswered. When they did get in touch, editors told me that I had no chance of making a career with travel photography. While I struggled to get on the path that I wanted, and as I expanded my blog to help get me there, I found myself wearing the hat of a fulltime blogger.
Luckily, I got in at the right time. It was 2010, and the travel industry was just starting to turn its attention to bloggers. As I never could have predicted, my blogging—not my photography—did take me around the world successfully. At first, I thought it was for personal reasons, but I realized later that it was for free marketing for my blogging.
Within two years, I was being asked to speak at travel blogging conferences, which helped me to raise a network of friends around the world. Even more meaningful, however, was when I saw that my travels were also helping other people. My blog and social media followers saw that I chased my dreams and told me over and over again how they needed that kind of example, which was absent in their lives elsewhere.
Taking photos while on holiday is not an uncommon activity. Tourists do it all the time, but if you want to take things further, here are some tips that can help you along the way.
First of all, there is the matter of equipment. Of course, most people believe that the higher end your camera is, the better the photos will turn out. The quality of DSLR cameras (数码单反相机) is superior to the one of small cameras and smartphones, but only if you know how to adjust (调整) their settings. However, if you don't know how to do it, an iPhone camera is enough too. You can shoot amazing photos without having to travel with a large and heavy camera.
Secondly, you need to do some research in advance and discover the best photo spots. Your photos don't have to look like travel cards. On the contrary, you can catch the beauty of a place by finding its uncommon corners and subjects. For example, if you're going to a crowded city, don't just take photos of high buildings. You may see a new face of the city at that time.
Thirdly, you have to be patient. For the best picture, come back to the same spot several times or stay at one spot for some time. You might come across something special as you wait: a bird flying across an old temple, a mother and her baby passing by, or just the sun giving beautiful colors on the roofs.
Take as many photos as you can and don't be disappointed if your first travel photos are not National Geographic material, because they will get better with time.

With the improvement of life standards, there are a (grow) number of people traveling each year, is a good way to enjoy life. Some people would like to take a package tour (跟团游), others would rather travel on their own. I prefer the latter, because I feel that it's much more convenient and cheaper than taking a package tour as I (do) before.
First of all, traveling on my own, I can arrange my time and route (free). For example, when I get to someplace I like, I choose to stay longer and don't have to think about others. Secondly, the schedule is relatively tight joining package tours, and tourists can only stay very short time in tourist attractions. is difficult to enjoy every landscape carefully. (three), in order to earn money, some travel agencies force tourists (buy) things. In the meantime, traveling on my own is much cheaper. Finally, the trip is designed to relax. However, many people say that package tours are not to make them feel really (relax), but even more tired.
On the whole, I feel like (travel) on my own, which is more convenient.

I had never been more anxious in my life. I had just spent the last three endless hours trying to get to the airport so that I could travel home. Now, as I watched the bus driver set my luggage on the airport sidewalk, I realized that my anxiety had only just begun.
This was my first visit alone to the international terminal of the airport, and nothing was familiar. I could not make sense of any of the signs. Where was the checkin counter? Where should I take my luggage? I had no idea where to go, feeling as if I were deaf and blind and stupid. I began to panic. What time was it? Where was my plane? I had to find help because I could not be late!
I tried to ask a passing businessman for help, but my words all came out wrong. He just frowned and walked away. What had happened? I had been in this country for a whole semester, and I could not even remember how to ask for directions. This was awful! Another bus arrived at the terminal, and the passengers came out carrying all sorts of luggage. Here was my chance! I could follow them to the right place, and I would not have to say a word.
I dragged my enormous suitcase behind me and followed the group. We finally reached the elevators. Oh, no! They all fit in it, but there was not enough room for me. I watched in despair as the elevator doors closed. I was abandoned again! I had no idea what to do next. I got on the elevator when it returned and stared at all the buttons. Which one could it be? I pressed button 3, because I thought I saw those passengers pressed 3, though it was no more than a quick glance. The elevator slowly climbed up to the third floor and came to a stop. A high, unpleasant noise announced the opening of the doors, and I looked around shyly.
