In China, the Spring Festival (春节)is the most important festival. People usually have a long holiday. There is a lot to do.
On the eve(除夕) of the Spring Festival, all the families have a big dinner to celebrate(庆祝) it. Their favourite food on this day is dumplings (饺子). People think eating dumplings can bring them money in the new year.
Days before the Spring Festival, families will clean their homes. It makes the house ready for good luck(好运).
The colour red is everywhere during the spring Festival. People think red is a happy colour and will bring them a bright future(光明的未来). People wear red, too. They decorate(装饰)their homes with red paper.
Kids get a lot of "hong bao". lt is a red paper bag with money in it. Usually, older people give children "hong bao". They think it brings good luck.
The Spring Festival is the time to make everybody happy.
