After attending another parent meeting about my 7-year-old child's behavior, I didn't know what to do. It was the second school we had tried for Nathan and, as always, everything was being done for my child's needs. It was also having bad influence on Nathan. He would come home and say, "Mom, I hate my life. I do not want to live any more." I was afraid that my son was beginning to suffer from depression(抑郁) and that I was losing him. We needed help.
By the age of seven, Nathan had already had three surgeries (外科手术) for his ears. He was in great pain, which made it difficult for him to learn or pay attention. Despite Nathan's bad condition, the staff at two former schools seemed as if they didn't care. They often forgot to deal with his medication(药剂). As a result of many times of ear infections (感染), Nathan had hearing loss. To make things worse, Nathan's speech was not very good. Children would make fun of him and Nathan began to fall behind in study.
When I first set foot into Ripley House Charter School, I knew this was the school for my son. It felt positive from the moment I entered. From the start, Mrs. Elsen and her staff heard my concern over Nathan. Mrs. Elsen dealt with my concern, not with empty words but with action.
That day, Nathan came home from his first day of school saying, "Mom, I love school!" By the end of the week he was saying, "Mom, I like my life. I have a good life." Ripley House Charter School gave me my son back and saved our lives. Thank you for giving me back what we had lost—HOPE.
Memory, they say, is a matter of practice and exercise. If you have the wish and really make a conscious(自觉的) effort, then you can quite easily improve your ability to remember things. But even if you are successful, there are times when your memory seems to play tricks on you.
Sometimes you remember things that really did not happen. One morning last week, for example, I got up and found that I had left the front door unlocked all night, yet I clearly remember locking it carefully the night before.
Memory "tricks" work the other way as well. Once in a while you remember not doing something, and then find out that you did. One day last month, for example, I was sitting in a barber shop waiting for my turn to get a haircut, and suddenly I realized that I had got a haircut two days before at the barber shop across the street from my office.
We always seem to find something funny and amusing in incidents caused by people's forgetfulness or absent-mindedness. Stories about absent-minded professors have been told for years, and we never get tired of hearing new ones. Unfortunately, however, absent-mindedness is not always funny. There are times when "tricks" of our memory can cause us great trouble.
If you're planning to organize a summer camp, you need to have a good plan of action. First of all, you should have a theme. For example, if you're planning a lot of games, you could call it "the adventure land" or something like that.
If the summer camp is going to be an overnight program, then you have to keep the kids busy with different activities. Games act as one of the best ways for kids to relax. They also help kids get along well with each other and develop the ability to work in a team.
Kids at the summer camp need to be on their own for some time. Make sure your plan has some free time for them. You could even encourage them to write down their thoughts about the summer camp. Be careful not to force them to do some things; let them be on their own.
Your summer camp program can have a special day. During this day, children can show their culture as well as learn about others. Also you can have a gift day, which means every child has to show their gifts, like dancing, singing or painting.
Let children do certain experiments or go around the campsite and ask them to find the scientific names of trees. Make sure you make this activity fun and interesting, so that the kids don't complain about it being a study activity.
A. You'll have a wonderful summer camp.
B. For example, you can have a culture day.
C. This time may be used to make new friends.
D. And an art camp can have a theme like "paint the world".
E. This may develop confidence in them to enjoy these sports.
F. You can devote a day or two to science and nature activities.
G. So plan interesting games like English corners, races and so on.
It was a warm, sunny, Saturday afternoon some fifteen or sixteen years ago. I took my two kids to the local playground. As soon as we got there my daughter headed for the swings(秋千) and asked for a 1. I noticed another little girl 2 to get her own swing going high as I was 3 my daughter to go higher and higher.
I walked over to the little girl and asked 4 she need help. She smiled and said "Yes!" and I soon had her feet flying towards the 5 while she laughed happily. For the next two hours I found myself pushing swings and playing games with my daughter and the little girl. By the time we headed home, I was 6tired, but my spirits was still flying 7than those swings.
Two years later I was 8again after a long day's work. Still, I needed to9 my kids from their school before heading home. I stood in the 10 waiting area waiting for my children. Suddenly, I felt two 11arms wrapped around my legs. I looked down and there was the little girl I met 3 years before in the 12smiling up at me. She gave me a big hug before running away to 13 the school bus. As I watched her 14, I didn't feel tired any more and my spirits were once again 15with that swing.
The love we 16 with others will find its way back to us. It will travel from heart to heart, it may take seconds or it may take17. The law of love, 18, is never broken. We will get back what we give. We will harvest what we19. The kindness we give and the joy we create will always come back to 20 us.

It was Mother's Day and I was shopping at the local supermarket with my son who is five years old, Tenyson. As we were leaving after finishing our shopping, we realized that only minutes earlier an elderly woman had fallen over at the entrance and hit her head on the ground badly. Her husband was with her, but there was blood everywhere and the woman was embarrassed and clearly in shock. Fortunately, a lot of people stopped to help out.
While we were walking towards the scene, Tenyson became very worried about what had happened to the elderly couple. He said to me, "Mom, it's not much fun falling over in front of everyone," Seeing that there was a flower stall(摊位)at the front of the supermarket, he added, "Why shouldn't we buy the lady a flower? It will make her feel better." I was amazed that he'd come up with this sweet idea. So we went over and told the flower seller what we wanted. "Just take it," she replied. "I can't take your money for such a wonderful deed."
By now medical staff had arrived, and were looking after the injured woman. There we saw the old man was also in great horror, but he tried to comfort his wife and held her hands tightly to encourage her to be strong. We gave the flower to the woman's husband and I told him it was from my son. At that, the old man started crying and said, "Thank you very much."He then turned to me, "You have a wonderful son. Happy Mother's Day to you."
The man bent down and gave his wife the flower, telling her who it was from. Regardless of being badly hurt, the old lady looked up at Tenyson with love in her eyes and gave him a little smile. And my son bent down his body to the injured lady and tenderly said, "Happy Mother's Day to you, too."
