I graduated from college recently and moved to Washington by myself While I was in college, it was really 1 to meet new people. But "out in the real world", I was finding it really hard, so I called my sister for some advice.
My sister is five2older than I am, so she's been through all this already. When I explained my problem, she understood3. She said, "Why don't you try 4 people online?"
"Online? Are you kidding?" I asked. "A friend of 5 chatted with a guy online, and when she finally met him face to face, he was 6 like what he said."
My sister laughed. "But you can find other people like you — people who have just moved to town and want to make some new 7. When I first moved to New York after college, I 8a book club and a football team online. I met a lot of people that way."
"9 you don't even like football!" I said.
"I know," she replied. "But that didn't 10. I still had a lot of fun. You played volleyball in college. Why don't you 11a volleyball team to join? Or an art class?"
"Yeah! I saw a website12volunteering the other day." I said. "I could volunteer for an organization here in Washington. I bet I could meet a lot of really 13people that way."
"Good idea!" my sister answered excitedly. "Hey, you14even meet the perfect guy."
"Thanks a lot for the 15. I'll let you know what happens. Will you be home tonight?" I said.
"No, but I'll be here all day tomorrow, so give me a call," my sister replied. "Good luck!"

A man and his son were going through the mountain. Suddenly, the boy fell down on the mountain road and shouted with a pain "Aah!" To his surprise, he heard the same voice from the mountain, "Aah!" The boy felt more surprised, so he shouted again, "Who is this?" And the voice replied the same, "Who is this?" The boy got angry, and shouted a third time "You are too stupid" !And again the voice replied the same, " You are too stupid!"
Annoyed by this, the boy asked his father, "Father, what is going on? Who is this?" The father replied, "Son, pay attention." The father shouted, "You are very nice." And the voice replied the same, "You are very nice." "The father shouted again," I love you." And the voice replied the same, "I love you." The father shouted a third time, "Thank you very much." And the voice again replied the same, "Thank you very much." The son was very surprised but he still could not understand what to make of it.
The father explained, "Son, people call it resonance (回声), but this is the truth of our life. Your life is a reflection of your actions. Whatever you give to others, you will receive the same in return."
Whatever we give to others, life gives us the same in return. Our life is not an accident or a coincidence (巧合), but it is the shadow what we are doing. Our life is simply a reflection of our actions. If we want more love in the world, create more love in our hearts.
Home garages (车库)usually have space for a car and maybe things like tools and bicycles. But at Jaecee Rae Carr's home in Tennessee, USA, her parents, garage is filled with blankets and towels.
After a visit to the local animal shelter (收容所), Jeacee decided to do something to help make the animals more comfortable.
"I started asking friends, family and neighbors to donate blankets and towels to our local animal shelters," said Jaecee. "I didn't expect people to give so much! We have donated all of them to 20 shelters in 7states."
Still, Jaecee Rae wanted to do more for shelter animals. So she started pet food donation. "Family, friends, teachers and people in my community donated about 2,700 pounds of dog and cat food," said Jaecee.
In 2013, Jaecee was praised on different situation because of her hard work. After a year she won the Tennessee Governor's Volunteer Stars Award. She was the youngest person to win the prize and that made her so proud.
Jaecee didn't stop trying to do more. "In March 2019, my family and people in the community donated things to my Humane Yard Sale. "Our garage was full! "said Jaecee, didn't realize so many things to help. It was a lot of work, but totally worth it. We sold so many things and raised over $1,000 from the yard sale!"
What's next for the young volunteer to do for animals? Maybe a look at her garage will tell the tale!
The people who make a difference in your life come in all types. For me, that person wore a tie with a Pizza Hut logo on it. I found my first and best mentor (良师益友)at a job in fast food.
I started working at Pizza Hut when I was a freshman in high school. All new workers started by washing dishes and clearing tables. On the first night, there were so many dishes I needed to wash after I cleared the tables. My job was ended at 9:00 pm, but when I asked to leave, the manager Jeff refused, allowing me to go home after the work was done. I tried my best and stayed on dish duty for weeks. I asked Jeff when I could do something different. He promised if I did well in my job and didn't complain, the next week he would let me make table. And he did so.
My relationships with those stepfathers were terrible, so Pizza Hut became not only my escape from home, but also a special home. In my real home, I felt changeable and out of control. At work, a path seemed clear: Work hard and do things correctly, and you will succeed. This model had not seemed possible before.
Senior year arrived. I knew I would go to college though I loved the job. I told Jeff I wanted to apply to Boston University. He told me to leave work, and send application (申请)at once. I ended up with getting into Boston University, but I had never visited Boston. However, Jeff surprised me with a graduation present: a trip to Boston. While I was away, he was promoted (升职)and a different person was put in charge of the store. I went back to work anyway over winter vacation, but the magic was gone.
Washing dishes for Jeff was busy and dirty work. But any of other jobs are not always enjoyable in themselves, either. The most I learned from that man in the Pizza Hut is that any job can be the best if you have the right boss.
a. The writer got into Boston University.
b. The writer started working at Pizza Hut.
c. The writer was allowed to make table.

Food waste is a world's problem. Every year, about 1.3 billion tons, or one-third of all the food produced is thrown away, according to a survey. (use)just 25 percent of that wasted food could feed 870 million hungry people, which would end world hunger. The people of France wasted 234 pounds of food per person, which is much better than some other (country).
In the past, France wasn'tat controlling food waste, but now the country takes the lead. A law was (make) by French government. It made France the first country in the world to prevent supermarkets from(throw) away unused food. Now supermarkets of a certain size must donate unused food, or they will face a fine. are other rules requiring schools to teach students about food sustainability (可持续性).They also ask companies to report the food waste numbers in their environmental reports. And restaurants should provide take-out bags.
These laws make it a standard to reduce waste." says Marie Mourad, a student in Paris who has (write) several reports on French food waste." France is not the country that wastes the least food, Frenchmen have become the most active because they want to be the example in Europe.'* This step has influenced parts of French food industry. It is everyone's duty to fight food waste. Everyone on the earth should attention and take action.
