As we all know, questioning can lead to {#blank#}1{#/blank#}(search) for an answer. If we are in the habit of raising doubts as to{#blank#}2{#/blank#}what we are told is true, we can find the correct answer and learn more.

    Two years ago, our teacher{#blank#}3{#/blank#} (offer) us an answer to a difficult math problem in class. Although the answer seemed a little strange, nobody {#blank#}4{#/blank#}me doubted it. Thinking that his answer might be wrong, I{#blank#}5{#/blank#}(careful) analyzed the problem and tried to work{#blank#}6{#/blank#} out in a different way. Half an hour{#blank#}7{#/blank#} (late), I managed to find the correct answer. When I showed my answer to him, the teacher praised me for my {#blank#}8{#/blank#}(depend) thinking.

    From this experience, I have learned that questioning can serve as {#blank#}9{#/blank#} bridge that helps us to seek the {#blank#}10{#/blank#}(true).

    Lasa Bailey took her gloves off when {#blank#}1{#/blank#}（take）her dog for a long walk on a winter day and didn't notice anything until that evening. She was shocked when she realized her beautiful anniversary ring was missing. She {#blank#}2{#/blank#}（hurry）back to look for it but couldn't find anything. Her husband kept going on a website where people sell jewelry, {#blank#}3{#/blank#} never found it.

    All that changed, however, thanks to a recent Facebook post {#blank#}4{#/blank#}（write）on their local police department's page. A woman police officer posted, “If anybody knows of anybody losing a diamond ring, please contact us. ”One of her friends read it and wrote on it “Lisa Bailey”.

    The police station happened to find some unidentified {#blank#}5{#/blank#}（jewel）in a local pawn shop（当铺）and took them away. When Bailey learned from her friend that her ring might {#blank#}6{#/blank#}（find）, she couldn't believe it.

    The police called Bailey and asked her to describe it. She sent a picture of it to {#blank#}7{#/blank#} and then they asked if she could come to the police station. When the police officer in the station {#blank#}8{#/blank#} had written the Facebook post handed her the ring the next day, she was very thrilled and started to tear up. She could wear her anniversary ring home where it belongs {#blank#}9{#/blank#}（final）after three years'wait.

    Bailey's husband had offered to replace the ring after it went {#blank#}10{#/blank#}（miss）, but she refused because she thought it wouldn't be the same.

    Generally speaking, joy {#blank#}1{#/blank#} (express) by laughter. But as it turns out, it reveals a lot more than the fact {#blank#}2{#/blank#} you are happy. It enables listeners, even those who cannot observe you, {#blank#}3{#/blank#} (realize) if you are having a good time with a close friend or laughing {#blank#}4{#/blank#} (polite) with a complete stranger.

    At least, this is the conclusion {#blank#}5{#/blank#} (reach) by a team of scientists led by Greg Bryant, {#blank#}6{#/blank#} assistant professor of Communication Studies at the University of California, Los Angeles. The researchers began by {#blank#}7{#/blank#}(request) volunteers from across the world to send them audio clips(音频剪辑) of people laughing. The 48 tapes they received {#blank#}8{#/blank#} (range) from recent recordings of laughter between two college friends {#blank#}9{#/blank#} ones from conversations made ten years ago. The clips also had all possible {#blank#}10{#/blank#} (combine)--communications between friends, strangers, all-male groups, all-female groups, etc.

    Bryan says that the results of this cross-cultural examination show that people all over the world know laughter in similar ways.

    Mr.Johnson lived in the woods with his wife and children. He owned {#blank#}1{#/blank#} farm, which looked almost abandoned. {#blank#}2{#/blank#} (lucky), he also had a cow which produced milk every day. He sold or exchanged some of the milk in the towns nearby {#blank#}3{#/blank#} other food and made cheese and butter for the family with what {#blank#}4{#/blank#} (leave).The cow was their only means of support, in fact. Then the Johnsons had to make a living {#blank#}7{#/blank#} the cow. In order to support his family, Mr. Johnson began to plant herbs and vegetables. Since the plants took a while to grow, he started cutting down trees {#blank#}8{#/blank#} (sell) the wood. Thinking about his children's clothes, he started growing cotton too. When harvest came around, he was already selling herbs, vegetables and cotton in the market{#blank#}9{#/blank#} people from the towns met regularly. Now it occurred to {#blank#}10{#/blank#} that his farm had much potential and that the death of the cow was a bit of luck.

    One day, a father and his son were walking with their horse. An old man saw them and said, "You {#blank#}1{#/blank#}(suppose) to ride a horse, not to walk it!" The father then put his son on the horse.

    Soon they passed a group of people, {#blank#}2{#/blank#}said, "That's a lazy boy! He gets to ride the horse while his father walks." The father decided to take his son off and get on the horse himself. {#blank#}3{#/blank#}they kept going, they came upon two {#blank#}4{#/blank#}(passer-by). One said, "You are a {#blank#}5{#/blank#}(self) man! Your son has to walk while you get to ride!" The man then reached down and put his son on the horse with him.{#blank#}6{#/blank#}a while, they entered a town. Everyone started to laugh at them,{#blank#}7{#/blank#}(say), "You are too heavy for that horse!" The father and his son didn't know what {#blank#}8{#/blank#}(do).

    Finally, they decided to carry the horse. When they came to a bridge, the horse {#blank#}9{#/blank#}(fall) to the water. "If you try to please {#blank#}10{#/blank#}," the father told his son, "in the end, you will please no one." Then they went home.
