A man had a little dog, and he liked it a lot. He would pat (拍) its head, put it on his knee and talk to it. Then he would give it some food from his own plate.

    A donkey (驴子) looked in through the window and saw the man and the dog.

    " Why doesn't he choose me as his pet?" said the donkey. "It is not fair. I work hard, and the dog only shakes its tail, barks and jumps onto the master's (主人) knee. It is not fair. "

    The master thought the donkey was maniacal , and he shouted, "Help ! Help ! "

    Some men came running in with sticks in their hands and they beat the donkey until he ran out of the house.

"I only did what the dog did, " said the donkey, "and yet they still regard the dog as their pet and they beat me with sticks. It is not fair. "

I am Susan. My favourite place is a farm. My father buys the farm. Every summer holiday my friends and I go to the farm. We enjoy our time there. 

The farm has a big house. It has six rooms and a big kitchen. In the living room there is a beautiful fireplace (壁炉), so we feel warm. Around the house there are flowers and trees. The trees are big and very old. They look very green in summer. I feel cool under the trees. Many birds' songs make me feel happy. 

My favourite time about the farm is the night. I enjoy looking at the stars. I spend a lot of time after dinner talking with my parents. We often sit outside the house under the beautiful sky and tell old stories.

I didn't use to like my dad.

When he knew that I was poor in math in the primary school, he made me stay with my aunt whose husband was a math teacher.

I wanted to stop practicing the piano because I thought it was boring. But he didn't allow me. He made me practice every day and warned me not to be lazy.

I would always remember how he punished me for not being good. Once I went to play computer games with some classmates instead of going to school. After knowing what happened, he hit me in the face and stopped giving me any pocket money.

I would also remember that when I asked him to buy me a pair of expensive sports shoes, he turned me down. But he bought me a very good computer to have online lessons.

When I was at university, Mom wrote me lots of letters but he just sent money. And whenever I called home, he acted like he didn't want to talk and he always said," I'll get your mom."

But while I am enjoying the pleasure that playing the piano brings me, I know his love. When I am enjoying the success of being a top student, I know his love. Dad loves me just as Mom does, but he shows it differently.
