They had expected to find a freely place to live in, so they experienced a hard winter. Half of them starved death. The next spring, we began farming. With the help of local Indians, they learned to be plant corn and raise animals. In the autumn, the fields produced a good harvest. Filling with joy and thanks to God, they held a celebration. In 1863, it became a national holiday.
