In a town in France, there was a farmer who lived alone. Every day he s {#blank#}1{#/blank#} a pound of butter to his neighbor, who was a baker. One day the baker decided to weigh the butter to see i {#blank#}2{#/blank#} he was getting a pound. After he weighed it, he found that he wasn't. The baker then took the farmer to the judge (法官).

The judge wanted to know the farmer's ways to weigh the butter. The farmer replied, “ I''m so p{#blank#}3{#/blank#} that I do not have enough money to buy anything to weigh it. H {#blank#}4{#/blank#} , I do have a kind of scale (天平).” The judge asked, “Then h {#blank#}5{#/blank#} do you weigh the butter?” The farmer replied, “Before the baker started buying butter from me , I had bought bread from him. So now every time when I b {#blank#}6{#/blank#} home the bread from the baker, I put it on the scale and give him the butter of the same w{#blank#}7{#/blank#} .”

 We always get back what we give to others. Whenever you take action, ask yourself this question, “Am I honest?”

 Honesty or dishonesty can become a habit. Some dishonest people can lie w {#blank#}8{#/blank#} a red face. Others lie so m {#blank#}9{#/blank#}  that they do not even know what the truth is any more. But who is it bad for? In fact, those who lie will hurt t {#blank#}10{#/blank#}  by their own dishonest behavior.

    I climbed the stairs slowly, carrying a big suitcase, my father following with two more. By the time I got to the third floor, I was tired and at the same time feeling lonely. What is w{#blank#}1{#/blank#}, Dad missed a step and fell, sending my new suitcases rolling {#blank#}2{#/blank#} the stairs." Damn!" he screamed, his face turning red. I knew t{#blank#}3{#/blank#}was ahead. Whenever Dad's face turns red, look out.

    How could I ever {#blank#}4{#/blank#}(使) him to finish unloading the car without screaming at me and making a scene in front of the other girls, girls l would have to spend the rest of the year with? Doors were opening and faces peering out(探出), as Dad walked with {#blank#}5{#/blank#}／'difikəlti／close behind. I felt it in my bones that my college life was getting off to a bad start.

   "Find the room, quickly," I {#blank#}6{#/blank#}／θɔ:t／. "Get him into a chair and calmed down." But then again, would there be a chair in Room316? Or would it be an empty room?

    Finally I turned the key {#blank#}7{#/blank#}the lock and pushed the door open, with Dad still complaining(抱怨) about a hurting {#blank#}8{#/blank#}(膝盖) or something. I put my head in, expecting the worst. But to my surprise, the room wasn't empty at all! It had {#blank#}9{#/blank#}(家具) , curtains, a TV, and seven paintings on the wails.

    And there on a well-made bed sat Amy, my new roommate, dressed neatly. G{#blank#}10{#/blank#}me with a nod, she said in a soft voice," Hi, you must be Cori." Then, she turned down the music and looked over at Dad," And of course, you're Mr. Faber," she said smiling." Would you like a glass of iced tea?" Dad's face turned decidedly less red before he could bring out a "yes."

    I knew then that Amy and I would be friends and my first year of college would be a success.

    My parents taught me not to waste food. My mom {#blank#}1{#/blank#} found ways to make leftovers taste good. I went to Ilan to learn about some of their special foods. As I was there, I learned about the food and the history of the area. I learned that they don' t waste food, {#blank#}2{#/blank#}, and they use leftovers！

    Many years ago, there was not {#blank#}3{#/blank#} food for everyone. People learned to cook and eat almost everything. They had to think of ways to make special dishes. One of these dishes is kao zha. It's made with leftovers {#blank#}4{#/blank#} meat, soup, oil and fat. That might not sound very good, but it does taste good Today, kao zha is a special dish at big banquets.

    Another famous dish {#blank#}5{#/blank#} called zao bing. It's made with fruit, meat and other things. I really liked it! But I didn't want to eat too much I has a lot of fat in it.
