A: Johnny, do you know the young man named Frank?

B:Yes. He's an engineer. Why do you him?

A: I feel strange. Wherever I go, I see people greet him warmly. How long has he been in George Town?

B: He's been here for only one year, less than half of the time I've stayed here.

A: That's amazing. Why is he so in such a big town?

B: Maybe it's because of his. He's fun. To our surprise, he can always find humorous points in what seems rather usual. And he helps anyone in trouble if he can to. He values the friendship with others.

A: That would it. What about you, my friend? Why do you have so few friends in the town?

B: It's probably because I'm the to Frank. And my work is busy, so I have no chance to meet people.

A: I think I can't introduce some of my friends to you.

B: Well, thanks, but actually I have many friends on the Internet. I often chat with them online.

A: you can share something with them, you should know that they can never be with the friends around you.

B: You're so kind. Thank you for your advice.

I packed, and was ready to leave for my two-day trip. I had been busy with my work. I had made p{#blank#}1{#/blank#} for the trip for the last few days, and I expected to get r{#blank#}2{#/blank#} for several days.

As I got into the car to leave, my mind flew to my kids.

How to keep in touch with your kids when you're busy or far away is a dilemma(两难的问题) many fathers have. Men like to focus special attention on one thing for a long p{#blank#}3{#/blank#}, but this can lead to trouble. Moving from work to family isn't always an easy thing. And if you don't s{#blank#}4{#/blank#} your kids that you're thinking about them, they may think that you don't care.

As I started down the road, I suddenly stopped to t{#blank#}5{#/blank#} back to my house and wrote a short message on a c{#blank#}6{#/blank#} of cards to each of my children. I put each in a "secret" place where I knew they'd find it.

When I called the next night, they both said e{#blank#}7{#/blank#}, "Daddy, I got your card. When did you do that?"

I was moved when I heard these words. What I had never thought was that a small thing had a big influence on my kids. It proved(证明) that they were in my heart. And distance (距离) couldn't s{#blank#}8{#/blank#} them from their father. To my satisfaction, they feel "love" of their father.

This v{#blank#}9{#/blank#} experience encouraged me to continue to do the small things to be a responsible father.

As fathers get much busier and have to work longer hours, they usually pay l{#blank#}10{#/blank#} attention to the small things. Don't miss the good chances to let your kids see how important they are.

Take a moment to do a small thing for your kids. It won't s {#blank#}11{#/blank#} small to them.

请用适当的单词完成下列的短文,每个空格只能填写一个形式正确,意义相符的单词。

One day, a successful businessman was getting ready to go to his office in the morning. When he opened the door of his car, a stray dog sleeping under his car suddenly came out and bit his leg! He was{#blank#}1{#/blank#}and threw a rock at the dog, although he was not able to{#blank#}2{#/blank#}it.

Upon reaching his office, the businessman called a meeting of his managers. During the{#blank#}3{#/blank#}, he took out his anger on his managers. His managers were upset about this, and took out their own anger on the employees working under them. Gradually, the businessman's anger spread through{#blank#}4{#/blank#}whole company.

The businessman was still angry{#blank#}5{#/blank#}he returned home. His wife opened the door. She asked him, "Why are you so late today?" The man{#blank#}6{#/blank#}at his wife, "I didn't go to the office to play soccer. I went to work. So don't irritate me with your stupid{#blank#}7{#/blank#}!"

His wife was upset about being shouted at for no reason. She turned her anger on their son, who was watching TV. "This is all you do. You have no interest{#blank#}8{#/blank#}studying! Turn off the TV now!" She yelled.

The son became upset as well. He walked out of his house and saw a dog passing by. He{#blank#}9{#/blank#}up a rock and threw it at the dog in anger. The dog ran away, barking in pain.

Sometimes, when we are angry about{#blank#}10{#/blank#}, we might take out our anger on others who are not to blame for our mood. This is not fair to others — we should learn to control our anger.
