It is 8:30 a.m. at the Chengdu Research Base. Lin Wei, a panda keeper, is preparing the milk for the baby pandas' {#blank#}1{#/blank#}(早餐). At 9:00 a.m., she finds that most of the babies are already {#blank#}2{#/blank#}(醒着的)and hungry. When the babies see Lin Wei, they run over with excitement, and some of them even {#blank#}3{#/blank#}(行走)into their friends and fall over. They're so cute and lovely. Lin Wei takes care of them like they're her {#blank#}4{#/blank#}(自己的)babies. She washes, feeds and plays with them every day.

Pandas do not have many babies, maybe only one every two years. The babies often {#blank#}5{#/blank#}(死亡)from illness and do not live very long. Adult pandas spend more than 12 hours a day eating about 10 kilos of bamboo. Many years ago, there were a lot more bamboo forests and pandas in China. But now pandas are in great {#blank#}6{#/blank#}(危险). People cut down many bamboo trees so they are losing their homes. There are about 1,590 {#blank#}7{#/blank#}(野生的)pandas living in the forests in Sichuan, Shanxi and Gansu provinces. Another 200 or so live in zoos or research centers in China and other countries.

It's a {#blank#}8{#/blank#}(遗憾)that many people don't know that. So the government has set up an education program in Chengdu. It teaches children in cites about pandas, and tells them about the {#blank#}9{#/blank#}(重要性)of saving the pandas. But teaching children is only a way to help {#blank#}10{#/blank#}(保护)environment and save pandas. The Chinese government is also planting more bamboo trees so there will be more forests for pandas to live in. We all hope that in the future there will be a lot of pandas than now.

Read the passage and fill in the blanks with proper words.

Have you ever been in an animal rescue? It can be very heartbreaking, but sometimes, with l{#blank#}1{#/blank#}and skill, a tragic story can turn into an inspiring one. This is what happened to Winter, the dolphin.

Winter was found off the coast of Florida in December of 2005. She was just a few months old, a {#blank#}2{#/blank#}, and caught in a crab trap. The ropes from the trap were wrapped tightly around her body.

The fisherman who found her called for help. And a rescue team soon arrived. But the s{#blank#}3{#/blank#} was really tough. The ropes had cut off the blood circulation to her tail. She was badly hurt. People didn't think she would survive. Most dolphins who become trapped in ropes die. Hoping for a miracle and racing against time to save her, the rescuers transferred her to the Clearwater Marine Aquarium in Florida.

After much hard work, the doctors m {#blank#}4{#/blank#}to save Winter, but sadly, not her tail. Her tail were too damaged and had to be removed so Winter could live.

The little dolphin Winter didn't die, but she would never be able to swim normally w {#blank#}5{#/blank#}a tail. Thankfully, the story doesn't end here. Winter was able to swim, but not very well. Because he didn't have a tail, she moved to her body in a side-to-side motion like a shark. But the doctors at the aquarium were w {#blank#}6{#/blank#}that the strange movement would hurt her back bones.

Kevin Carroll heard Winter's story, and thought he could help. He is an expert who is good at treating disabled people. If he could help people, why not help a dolphin? He started working with Winter and came up with a solution. Now Winter can swim like other dolphins.

Winter's story also e{#blank#}7{#/blank#} the disabled. We all have the right to live and to live well.
