Cathy is a middle school student. She is twelve. She is a good student. She gets up very early every morning. She reads English for twenty minutes and then she has breakfast. She often has milk and bread for breakfast.

    At seven she leaves home for school. She goes to school on foot. She doesn't go to school by bus. She says, "Buses are too crowded and sometimes they are slow. It doesn't take her long to walk to school. It only takes her twenty minutes.

    Mrs. Black lives in a small village. Her husband is dead. Her son, Jack, lived with her. He worked in a shop in the village, but then he got a job in a town named Greensea. He went to live there. Mrs. Black was very angry. She got on a train and went to see her son. It took her almost 5 hours to get there. Then she said to him, "Jack, why do you never telephone me?" Jack laughed, "But, Mum, you haven't got a telephone." "No." she answered, "I haven't, but you have got one."
