Just Love

    My story is about receiving unconditional love from my students.

    With so much going against immigrants, I want to share this story that blessed an immigrant like me.

    I teach nursing here in the US. I am from China, and I just {#blank#}1{#/blank#} start) working in a community college in California in July 2016. At the beginning, I was {#blank#}2{#/blank#} (worry) that I couldn't make myself {#blank#}3{#/blank#} (understand) by my students as my accent was different. I thought I would never be accepted. My thoughts were {#blank#}4{#/blank#} (complete)wrong! Each day they encouraged me {#blank#}5{#/blank#} (get) better. They never discourage me.

    As weeks passed, my students came up with an idea to encourage this foreign teacher of {#blank#}6{#/blank#} (they). They gave me a prize for getting better with my {#blank#}7{#/blank#} (pronounce). I was given a packet of Skittles(彩虹糖), {#blank#}8{#/blank#} truly moved my heart. I am so thankful to my students. It's not that I teach them nursing, but that they teach me life. I am glad to be {#blank#}9{#/blank#} teacher to these hard-working students who try hard to be wonderful future nurses.

    I just want to encourage anyone feeling depressed. Never give {#blank#}10{#/blank#}. There is always hope.

    Years of expectation this time has finally arrived, there were times when I thought we would never get here. I just graduated last week. The dream {#blank#}1{#/blank#} (plant) many years ago. I had always dreamed {#blank#}2{#/blank#} going back to school, but it was too {#blank#}3{#/blank#} (frighten) and too hard.

    Three years ago, I lost a dear friend of {#blank#}4{#/blank#} (I) in a car accident. All those  {#blank#}5{#/blank#} (think) of “someday” seemed to take on different meanings. Well, I decided  {#blank#}6{#/blank#} (take) a course, and then I took two. Finally, I took 4 classes, and at the {#blank#}7{#/blank#} (two) week of school, my family were in a terrible car accident. The three of us were barely passing after that time period. I had a broken arm and could not write. As my password, I {#blank#}8{#/blank#} (call) myself mountain climber. The journey was difficult and every hill seemed higher to climb. I suppose the thing {#blank#}9{#/blank#} pulled me through was when I couldn't do it for myself, I could do it to honor my friend!

    Last week, {#blank#}10{#/blank#} highlight（最精彩的部分）of my life was walking across that platform getting my degree six months before I turn fifty!

    Are you the first or the last child in your family? Or are you a middle or an only child? Some people think {#blank#}1{#/blank#} matters where you were born in your family. But there are different ideas about what birth order means. Some people say that oldest children,{#blank#}2{#/blank#} are smart and strong - willed，are very likely {#blank#}3{#/blank#} ( succeed). The reason {#blank#}4{#/blank#} this is simple. Parents have a lot of time for their first child and give him or her a lot of attention. An only child will succeed for {#blank#}5{#/blank#} same reason.

    What {#blank#}6{#/blank#}(happen) to the other children in the family? Middle children don't get so much attention, so they don't feel that important. If a family has many children, the middle one sometimes gets {#blank#}7{#/blank#}(lose) in the crowd. The youngest child, however, often gets special treatment. Often this child grows up to be funny. But a recent study saw things quite {#blank#}8{#/blank#}(difference). The study found that the first children believe in family rules. They don, t take many chances in {#blank#}9{#/blank#}lives. They usually follow {#blank#}10{#/blank#} (order). Ruies don't mean much to later children in the family. They take chances and they often do better in life.

I used to be very fat. I didn't consider{#blank#}1{#/blank#}to be a burden until some of my friends started to call me "Fatty", {#blank#}2{#/blank#} was more than I could bear. I tried hard to do something about it but was unable to find an effective way{#blank#}3{#/blank#}(reduce) my weight. Some suggested that I should have only a meal a day, and I thought the idea was worth{#blank#}4{#/blank#} (try). However, it did not help make any significant progress because, being too{#blank#}5{#/blank#} (hunger), I tended to eat a lot more the next day. If I {#blank#}6{#/blank#}(skip) a dinner, I wouldn't even have the energy to get out of bed the next morning. Since such things were repeated all the time, my frustration deepened day after day. Finally, a friend of mine advised me to go to {#blank#}7{#/blank#} fitness center. I gave it a try and it {#blank#}8{#/blank#}(real) worked wonders. Over the past several months I have lost more than 30 pounds. Now, I am much {#blank#}9{#/blank#}(thin). When my friends jokingly say I am as light {#blank#}10{#/blank#} a feather, I know I have rid myself of the burden.

    The Forbidden City in Beijing, home to the Palace Museum, houses more than 1.8 million cultural relics and is one of the world's most visited tourist {#blank#}1{#/blank#} (attract).

    {#blank#}2{#/blank#} (mark) the 600th anniversary of the Forbidden City, the Palace Museum will hold a series of events throughout 2020. Over 20 exhibitions will be held, {#blank#}3{#/blank#} (cover) different areas such as history, art, festivals, and so on. For the special occasion, Along the Bian River during the Qingming Festival, one of China's most {#blank#}4{#/blank#} (wide) known masterpieces, will go {#blank#}5{#/blank#} display in September 2020. For {#blank#}6{#/blank#} (it) best preservation, this treasured artwork is seldom fully exhibited. The painting {#blank#}7{#/blank#} (display) for the first time back in 2005 to celebrate the museum's 80th anniversary. Such {#blank#}8{#/blank#} rare sight is expected to draw huge crowds.  In addition, the museum will also display exhibits from other {#blank#}9{#/blank#} (country).

    During the past few years, the Palace Museum has been working hard to get the public familiar with the history and culture of the Forbidden City. And it seems that these efforts have been paying off, with its popularity reaching a new height. Over 17 million people visited the museum in 2018, of {#blank#}10{#/blank#} 40 percent were under 30 years old.
