A young lady was driving alone through the street. It was dark and rainy. Suddenly she saw an old woman by the side of the road, holding up her hands as if she wanted a lift(搭便车). “I can't leave her out in this weather,” the young lady said to herself. She stopped her car and opened the door.

    “Do you want a lift?” she asked. The old woman nodded and got on the car. After a while, she said to the old woman, “Have you been waiting for a long time?” The old woman shook her head, “Strange” the young lady thought. She tried again, “Bad weather, isn't it?” The old woman nodded.

    Then the young lady noticed the old woman's hands, which were large and hairy. Suddenly she realized the woman was a man! She was frightened at first. Then she stopped the car. “I couldn't see out of the rear screen(后挡风玻璃),”she said, “Would you mind cleaning it for me?”

    “The old woman” nodded and opened the door. As soon as “she”got out of the car, the frightened young lady drove off as fast as she could.

    When she got home, she noticed “the old woman” had left her handbag behind, she picked it up and opened it. Inside there was a gun.

    If you love reading books, you must know about the book The Little Prince. It's a famous novel written by a French writer. As one of the best-selling books in history, it has been sold as many as 200 million copies in 253 languages and dialects(方言). Now, around seventy years after the birth of the book, an American director has found a way to make it into a 3-D animated film.

    The book tells the story of a pilot, called The Aviator, who crashes into the desert and meets a young prince there. However, in the film, the story starts years after the crash when The Aviator is much older. He has got a new neighbor called The Little Girl, whose mother wants her to get ready to enter the grown-up world. Slowly, The Aviator shares his story with The Little Girl by writing it down and sending her a page at a time. The pages are complete with the pictures in the book, speaking about his time in the desert and taking The Little Girl to an amazing world where anything is possible.

    China is the first country in the world to see the film in two versions(版本)—in Chinese and English. The film shows The Little Girl's life and tells The Little Prince's story at the same time in a beautiful way.

    Huang Lei, a famous Chinese actor, says the film is like a childhood dream which is lost by most adults in this stressed-out society.

    "The most touching(感人的) part is that every one of us was a good-natured kid like The Little Prince, and it's a pity that this good characteristic(品质) goes away as time flies," he says.

I had my first chocolate bar(巧克力条) at five years old. I'll never forget the delicious, comforting taste. It was World War Ⅱ. I lived with my family in the Lithuanian town of Taurage.

One day, I ran away from Taurage and took a train to Hamburg alone. I lived on the streets, like thousands of other children in the city. I stole(偷)food for a living. Still, there was never enough.

Then the American army arrived. They looked so big and healthy. Stealing food from them wasn't easy. I'd go into the dining hall quietly, hide under a table and leave with some fresh bread.

One afternoon as I waited around a dining hall secretly to look for food, a huge hand lifted me up.by the collar. An American soldier. "Got you!" he shouted.

I was scared, and I could see it upset him. "It's okay, kid," he said. He reached into his jacket and handed me a chocolate bar. "Here, have some of this." I just took a small bite of it. I thought I'd gone to heaven.

The soldier took me and some other homeless children to an orphanage (孤儿院) run by the Red Cross. Four years later I was sent to an orphanage in Seattle, America. Soon after, I lived with an American family in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Again, as with that first taste of chocolate, it was as if I'd gone to heaven. Later, I joined the army, and then attended college. Finally, I got a master's degree in clinical(临床的) social work. I want to pay back all the people who were so good to me.

In 1983 I went to work for the Department of Veteran Affairs as a clinical counselor(顾问),treating the troubled soldiers who suffer from post-traumatic stress disorder(创伤后精神紧张性障碍).

The troubled soldiers sit in my office and wonder how I can possibly understand them or help ease their pain. That is when I tell them my story, and about the soldier who saved my life.

"I never did learn his name, but I remember his kindness," I say. And then I open a drawer in my desk that is always full and offer them some chocolate.

Last year, we took a trip to New York City.{#blank#}1{#/blank#} we arrived at our hotel, it was around I am. My son Joseph looked out at the lights of Times Square and said he{#blank#}2{#/blank#}(want) to go outside.I told him it was {#blank#}3{#/blank#} late to go out, but he kept looking out of the window and said, "Just for two minutes."My wife and I just looked at each other, surprised and said "Two minutes". We got {#blank#}4{#/blank#} (dress) and walked to the center of Times Square. When we got there, my son pointed at {#blank#}5{#/blank#} lights and said "Dad, look!" and then started to fall asleep.

It took us {#blank#}6{#/blank#}(minute) to get ready for the 20 seconds we spent outside, but it made {#blank#}7{#/blank#}(we) son happy and that meant a lot to us. That night, I learned a lesson about this small experience.I used{#blank#}8{#/blank#} (find) an excuse(借口) to do something else,but in fact I could have happy moments in our lives.

Because of my son, I learned that I am {#blank#}9{#/blank#}(big) enemy to my own happiness in my life. Happiness is created{#blank#}10{#/blank#} ourselves. And it is a door that is always open. However, we are the ones who have to decide if we are going to walk through the door.
