In order to know a foreign language thoroughly, four things are necessary. Firstly, we must understand the language when we hear {#blank#}1{#/blank#} spoken.. Secondly, we must be able to speak it correctly with confidence and without hesitation. {#blank#}2{#/blank#} ,we must be able to read the language , and fourthly, we must be able to write it. We must be able to make sentences that are grammatically correct.

    There is no easy way to success {#blank#}3{#/blank#} language learning. {#blank#}4{#/blank#} good memory is of great help, but it is not enough only {#blank#}5{#/blank#}(memorize) rules from a grammar book. It is not much use learning by heart long list of words and {#blank#}6{#/blank#}meanings , studying the dictionary and so on. We must learn by using the language. {#blank#}7{#/blank#}we are satisfied with only a few rules we have memorized, we are not really learning the language. “Learn through use” is a good piece of {#blank#}8{#/blank#}(advise) for those {#blank#}9{#/blank#}are studying a new language. Practice is important. We must practise speaking and {#blank#}10{#/blank#}(write) the language whenever we can.

    Robben Island was a prison from which no one escaped. When Elias got to Robben Island, Mandela was also there and {#blank#}1{#/blank#}（help）him.

    Elias was a poor black worker. The time {#blank#}2{#/blank#} he first met Nelson Mandela was {#blank#}3{#/blank#} very difficult period of his life. Nelson Mandela offered {#blank#}4{#/blank#} (guide) to poor black people on their legal problems. Elias was not at school for long, for his family could not afford his school {#blank#}5{#/blank#} （fee）and the bus fare. When he was worried about whether he would be out of work because he didn't have one passbook, Nelson Mandela told him what to do. That day was one of Elias'{#blank#}6{#/blank#} (happy) days in his life. Later, Elias joined the ANC Youth League {#blank#}7{#/blank#} (organize) by Nelson Mandela. In 1963, Elias helped Mandela {#blank#}8{#/blank#} (blow) up some government buildings. It was very {#blank#}9{#/blank#} (danger) but Elias was happy because he thought {#blank#}10{#/blank#} would help them achieve their dream of making black and white people equal.

    The day that I met my best friend for the first time, I was full of {#blank#}1{#/blank#}(anxious). I was trying to do some revision for an important oral exam in the local library and people {#blank#}2{#/blank#}(keep)disturbing me. I was getting more and more annoyed and of course, the more upset I got, the less I was able to concentrate. The last straw was when I heard someone {#blank#}3{#/blank#}(sing) behind me.  The singing was so loud that I could even recognise the song! I turned around and glared at the person {#blank#}4{#/blank#} was singing. It was a tall girl about the same age as me and she had a big smile {#blank#}5{#/blank#} her face. She was standing with a book in her hands near the “English Literature” section. She looked like a literary type and seemed very interested in {#blank#}6{#/blank#} she was reading. I glanced at {#blank#}7{#/blank#} book's cover. It was a book of Tennyson's {#blank#}8{#/blank#}(poem).

    The fact that she looked like a sensitive, friendly girl didn't matter. If anything, it made me even angrier. “How could she be so selfish?” I thought {#blank#}9{#/blank#}(angry). In fact, I was surprised there wasn't steam {#blank#}10{#/blank#}(come) out of my ears!

    To celebrate the Lantern Festival the Palace Museum organized its first light show in the Forbidden City.

    The complex, home to Chinese emperors for five {#blank#}1{#/blank#}(century), was opened at night for the first time in 94 years. It was lit up with giant red lanterns and projections of ancient paintings. Masterpieces such as Along the River During the Qingming Festival were projected on the roofs, giving visitors a feeling like walking {#blank#}2{#/blank#} time. The design team smartly combined high technology{#blank#}3{#/blank#}(light) with the principles of cultural relic preservation.

    Only 3, 000 people {#blank#}4{#/blank#}(allow) in on that day: 500 people who booked their tickets online, and 2, 500{#blank#}5{#/blank#}(invite) guests including model workers, officers, soldiers, and ambassadors.

    With{#blank#}6{#/blank#} series of well-planned and tourist-friendly cultural activities, the Palace Museum is now on a campaign to make traditional Chinese culture more {#blank#}7{#/blank#}(access) to the general public. It has set an example to other museums in our country, most of {#blank#}8{#/blank#} seem to be still living in days gone by. Hopefully, the handsome turnover will be used{#blank#}9{#/blank#}(appropriate) to better protect the Forbidden City and improve {#blank#}10{#/blank#}(it)international image of being part of the world's cultural heritage.

    Chinese communities around the world welcomed the Year of the Pig {#blank#}1{#/blank#} February 5th. Celebrations took place across the globe, ranging from Southeast Asia's centuries-old Chinese communities to the more recently {#blank#}2{#/blank#} (establish) Chinatowns. In the streets of several European {#blank#}3{#/blank#} (city), performances of dragon dances and lion dances drew huge crowds of people. Celebrations in London are expected {#blank#}4{#/blank#} (last) a month with series of activities, {#blank#}5{#/blank#} is the biggest Chinese New Year celebration outside Asia.
