Long ago, there lived in Greece a {#blank#}1{#/blank#}(learn) man. He was {#blank#}2{#/blank#}well-known for his knowledge of almosteverything that lots of people from all over the country came to learn fromhim. The great man taught his students whole-heartedly and answered theirquestions with great {#blank#}3{#/blank#}(patient).

           One day, a student asked him, “My dearteacher, didn't you say you yourself have many more questions about things thanwe do?{#blank#}4{#/blank#} I think we students have far more than you.”

           With a smile on his face, the teacher {#blank#}5{#/blank#}(draw) two circles, one as large as abig cake, the other smaller. Then he said, “Of course, I have learned muchmore. But {#blank#}6{#/blank#}is wrong to think ateacher has fewer questions than his students. Now, look at these two circles.The inside of the bigger one is my knowledge of things, and the inside of thesmaller one is{#blank#}7{#/blank#}(you). Out ofthe circles is what is still unknown to us. Since mine is larger, I have {#blank#}8{#/blank#}(use) the longer line to draw thebigger circle. That {#blank#}9{#/blank#}(mean) Ihave more opportunities to face what is still unknown.     Motto is a short statement giving a rule on how to behave , {#blank#}1{#/blank#} can inspire us especially when we are {#blank#}2{#/blank#} (face) with difficulties. Many of us have our mottoes, such as “Where there is a will, there is a way.” Or “Nothing is difficult if you put your heart into it.”, and so on. My motto is “God helps those who help{#blank#}3{#/blank#}.” Sometimes I am lazy and don't want to make efforts {#blank#}4{#/blank#} (work) hard, {#blank#}5{#/blank#} the moment I think of my motto I will get energetic again and devote myself {#blank#}6{#/blank#} what I am doing. I write my motto {#blank#}7{#/blank#} I can see it easily. Every time I fail in my exam and begin to lose heart, the sight of my motto inspires me with much {#blank#}8{#/blank#} (confident). My motto also makes me become {#blank#}9{#/blank#} independent person. That is to say, I won't rely on others easily.

    Everybody in David's class packed their bags and got ready {#blank#}1{#/blank#} (go) home last Saturday. Usually David's mother would fetch him home but that day she was not there, so he walked home by himself.

    When he reached home, he knocked on the door as he didn't bring his keys. {#blank#}2{#/blank#} (surprising), no one answered the door. He {#blank#}3{#/blank#} (knock) again when one of his neighbors {#blank#}4{#/blank#} (name) John called him. He told David his mother was out and invited him to stay in his house till his mother came back. David knew that if his mother {#blank#}5{#/blank#} (be) at home, she would have answered the door soon. So David went to John's house and played with him. {#blank#}6{#/blank#} (stay) in John's house for a few {#blank#}7{#/blank#} (hour), David saw his mother come back. They thanked John and his family. It turned out that David's mother had {#blank#}8{#/blank#} serious backache so she had to see the doctor.

    {#blank#}9{#/blank#} this experience, David has learnt that neighbors are people {#blank#}10{#/blank#} help each other. The relationships among neighbors are like building a bridge and they will build a good bridge one day.
