  A forest is a large area of trees．Forests are very important because they provide shelter and food for birds and insects．Birds make their nests in trees．Small animals and insects build their homes in the hollows of trees．Leaves，flowers and fruits are their food．In the past，People got wood from forests．Some people cooked food with wood．People cut down trees to make houses，furniture and paper．Now，Many animals in the forests die because they lose their homes and their food．We must stop cutting down forest．

The future

    In the future, everything will be different. I think the future will be fun.

    Cars will fly. We won't drive on the roads. There won't be traffic-jams. Children will fly to school in a flying school bus. Or they will fly to school on a flying bicycle.

    Work will be different. People will have more leisure time. They will only work three days a week. The weekend will be four days long. Lots of people will work online from home. Everyone will go on vacation five times a year.

    Food well be different. We won't eat the same things we eat today. We won't buy food at the supermarket. We will buy our food online. A truck will deliver food to our houses.

    Lots of people won't cook. They will eat at a restaurant every day.

    I'm Tony. I am a lazy(懒的) boy. It is Monday. It's eight o'clock in the morning. I want to go to school, but I can't find my schoolbag. I am looking for(寻找) my schoolbag in my bedroom now. My room is untidy(不整洁). There are many books. Some are on my bed, some are on the floor, and some are under the desk and the chair. I see my pencil-box between the lamp and the radio. Oh, I see my schoolbag. It's near the door. But what's in my schoolbag? They're my socks!

    You work hard to learn English. Do you know American kids are learning Chinese? In many US schools, students take Chinese lessons. How do they learn Chinese?

    Let's go to the Muir Elementary School in the US. Maddi, 6, and Stephen, 6, are first graders in this school. They are learning how to say "we" in Chinese. "It's not easy to remember the Chinese characters (汉字). But learning Chinese is fun," they say.

    In Chinese class, they are learning the language through songs, games and lots of talking. "Chinese is popular among US kids. They pick it up really fast," their teacher says.

    Ben is very happy today. He goes to the park at eight thirty. He plays football with friends at ten. At eleven forty-five, he goes to the restaurant with his parents. Ben goes to the movie theater at five o'clock, at six thirty, he goes home.
