A female swimming athlete once set a goal(目标)for herself. She decided to swim across the English Channel before she retired. If she could succeed, she would be the first person in the world   did it. On that day, she jumped into the sea without any hesitation(犹豫)and swam towards the opposite bank without any   . In the journey, she faced heavy fog, heavy rain and heavy waves.  she was tired, she still carried on swimming. But in the end, she gave up. And she didn't know that the opposite bank was only one mile away when she gave up.

Later she  about the reason. And she said, “The reason why I gave up is that I could not see the place which I was going to reach ” It was a great pity that one mile broke her dream.

Since we were young  too many success stories have been telling us about courage and persistence(坚持). But they never told us where  courage and persistence. You can only have courage when you know where your goal is. You can only manage to persist when you know where your goal is.

And that's because when you know where your goal is, you can only prepare  well in the mind. Courage and persistence never from the sky. They come from weighing between input and output.

A life without goal is a ship without a compass. It goes nowhere. There is no courage or persistence in a life without goals.

Have you ever been to Thailand? And what did you learn about Thai people? After traveling {#blank#}1{#/blank#}Thailand for over a month, I've seen and learnt quite a few things not just about the country, but also about{#blank#}2{#/blank#} people. Here are some things that I've learnt about Thai people.

They always give you the warmest, friendliest smile if you smile first.

Thai people are often very {#blank#}3{#/blank#}, and many of them smile at you in the street. But most of the times, they look at you. If your {#blank#}4{#/blank#}meet and you smile, then they smile back right away. If you don't smile, however,{#blank#}5{#/blank#} do they. My experience is that they smile more brightly than you when you smile first.

No matter(无论){#blank#}6{#/blank#} early you get up in the morning, most people are already awake and working. It's true that I'm an early bird. But no matter when I get up, it feels like Thai people have been awake for just a little {#blank#}7{#/blank#}than me. They are already in their shops, at the markets or in the factories {#blank#}8{#/blank#}I get up. It's not that Thai people never sleep; they just don't sleep the way we do.

When it comes to transport, there's no such thing as “full”.

The buses are always {#blank#}9{#/blank#}in Thailand. Even if some kids have to hang (悬挂)off the end of the bus, there is still space {#blank#}10{#/blank#}more people. Once we had about 33 people in a very small bus. It was crazy!
