My name is Sam. This September I am going to middle school. I am going to London Middle School. I am really excited. The school is near my house. I am going to school on foot. I am going to study History, Science, Geography and French. I'm also going to speak Chinese there.

    Dave is a clerk of a company. He has trouble getting to sleep at night. He goes to see his doctor. And the doctor gives him some extra—strong sleeping pills (安眠药). On Tuesday night Dave takes the pills, sleeps well and awake before he hears the alarm clock. He gets to the office on time, walks in and says to his boss, "I'm OK. I have no trouble getting up this morning." "That's fine." the boss roars, "but where were you on Wednesday and Thursday?"

Cao Chong weighs the elephant

    When we want to know how much we weigh, we stand on a scale. But when something is very big, like an elephant, how do we weigh it? A long time ago, the famous warlord, Cao Cao, faced this question.

    One day, Cao Cao received an elephant as a gift. "What a big animal! How much does it weigh?" Cao Cao asked. No one could answer his question because no scale was big enough.

    Cao Cao's six-year-old son Cao Chong said, "Father, let me try!"

    Cao Chong asked a man to get the elephant onto a boat on a river. The boat went down a little, and Cao Chong marked the water level on the boat.  He then asked some strong men to put rocks on the boat.  When the water reached the mark, Cao Chong said, "Stop!"

    "Let's weigh these rocks, and add their weights together. Then we'll know the weight of the elephant," said Cao Chong.

    Finally, they found out the weight of the elephant. Cao Cao was very happy.

    Lily will have a busy month in June. On the first day of June, she will celebrate(庆祝) Children's Day with her classmates at school. She will have a sports day and an English party in this month. On the third(第三个) Sunday, she will write a letter to Dad, because it's Father's Day. The day after Father's Day is Lily's favourite festival. Yes, it's the Dragon Boat Festival. At the festival, she will make zongzi with Mum. And she will go to Grandma's birthday party and Jack's birthday party in June. Summer holiday will begin on the 30th of June. Lily is very excited.

    Hello! My name is Janet. Today is my birthday. I am nine now. My friends Ann, Ben, Jamin, and Lingling are coming to my home. Look! There is a big birthday cake. It's very nice. It's for me. There are four little cars and five apples for me. Beside the cars, there are six pencils. Under the pencils, there are eight new books and two nice dolls. I am very happy. Thank you, my friends!

    A farmer is walking in the forest. He is very tired. So he has a nap under a tree. One of his shoes is beside him. A monkey is picking up his shoe and climbing up the tree. The farmer wakes up, he is shouting, "Give it back to me". The monkey is shouting, too. It is imitating (模仿)the farmer. The farmer thinks, and then he has an idea. He is taking off his another shoe and throwing it away. What's the monkey doing? Yes! He is throwing the shoe, too. Now the farmer is picking up his two shoes quickly. He is laughing and singing, "What a naughty monkey! What a silly monkey! What a funny monkey!
