Kate is a new student. She is twelve. She is from America. She can speak English very well and she can speak a little Chinese. She is in Nanjing. Her parents are doctors. Kate is studying in a school near her home. She has some classes from Monday to Friday. On Saturdays and Sundays, she often plays games with her Chinese friends. She loves China and her Chinese friends.

    Dragon Boat Festival is a funny Chinese holiday. Usually, it's in May or June. Both children and adults like this holiday.

    First, there are dragon boat races. Dragon boats are very long. They are painted in bright colours. In each boat, there are many people rowing. There's also somebody beating a drum.The winner of the races can get a lot of money.

    During Dragon Boat Festival, people also eat a special kind of rice dumplings. To make rice dumplings, people always put some meat, vegetables and other things in it. Then they can make different flavors of dumplings. Some are sweet, and some are salty.They all taste good. People give them to friends.

    On the evening of holiday, families have a big meal together. Dragon Boat Festival is a great time for everybody.
