    Nov. 21 is World Hello Day. It began back in the 1970s as part of an effort to make the world more peaceful. It was created by the United Nations just after the war between Israel and Egypt in 1973. Its aim is to encourage people to use communication rather than force to settle conflicts(解决争端)。 The philosophy (理念) behind it is: Say “Hello” and stop war.

    It sounds like a fine idea, but most of us know that simply saying “Hello” won't bring about world peace. Still, the simple act of saying “hello ”to someone can truly make a lot of difference. You raise your head to someone as you pass by, say “Hello. it is such a casual (不经意的)thing and requires so little effort, but you might even make his day.

    Although we might not realize it, a small thing like a greeting can mean a lot to a person. Some people are lonely because they're shy. That leads to them feeling cut off. They find it difficult to communicate with people, even though they want to. They may secretly smile in their hearts after they hear your greetings. It's a good idea, not just on Nov.21, but every day, to remember to say “hello”to as many people as we can.

    No one said it better than the French writer Joseph Joubert: “Politeness is the flower of humanity(人性)''. A “Hello” to a stranger is a small thing, and often neglected (忽视), but through it we can make the world better for another person.

    Music and Art will enter the Entrance Exam for the high school in Jiangsu. Without music, life would be a mistake. Music is a big part of our lives. But in recent years, some US schools have cut music classes to control budgets (预算).

    For example, Chicago public schools hurt arts education when it fired (解雇) over 1,000 teachers. Among them, 10 percent of the teachers taught art or music, according to The Washington Times.     However, learning music is beneficial (有益的) in many ways.

    When playing music, you need different abilities to work together. It is not as simple as it looks, according to Kenneth Guilmartin of Music Together, an early childhood music development program. For example, when playing the piano, people see music notes and decode (解码) them in their brains. They also use their fingers to make sounds. You need to deal with all these things at the same time.

    Music has a special connection with science as well. You can see that many scientists are good at playing music: Einstein played the violin, and German physicist Max Planck was talented in playing the piano.

    Every year there is a Spring Festival in China. Usually it is in January or February. It is the most important festival in China. So before it comes, everyone has to prepare things. They buy pork, beef, chicken, fruits and many other things. And they often make a special kind of food—"dumplings". It means "come together". On the day before the festival，parents buy new clothes for their children. Children also buy presents for their parents. On the Spring Festival Eve(除夕)all the family members come back to their hometown. This is a happy moment. Some sing and dance, some play cards and others get the dinner ready. When they enjoy the meal, they give each other the best wishes for the coming year. They all have a good time.
