Hello! My name is D.T. I'm a monster. I'm a boy. I have a big head and a small body. I have one eye, two mouth, three nose and four ears. My face is green.My eyes are blue. I have two arms and three legs. I have three hands and nine fingers. My hands are yellow. I feel very cool.

    We have two bedrooms, one living room, a study, a kitchen and a bathroom. A big bed is in my bedroom. We have three sofas and a TV. They are in the living room. Where is my desk? It's in the study. I like my home.

    Dan lives in the city with his parents, because his parents work in the city. But Dan likes to go to the countryside very much. His grandparents live there. There is a hill near his grandfather's home. Dan always goes to climb the hill with his grandfather when he goes there. There is a lake near his grandfather's house too. Dan likes to go fishing too!

    Summer holiday is coming. Dan is going to stay there for a month. He will pick apples with his grandmother. He will climb the hill and go fishing. He is going to help his grandfather plant vegetables too!

    Last week we talked about growing potatoes. Today we will talk about growing another root vegetable, carrots. Carrots are easy to grow and easy to harvest. They taste good. And they contain a lot of carotene (胡萝卜素). When we eat the carrots, our body makes carotene into vitamin A(维生素A).

    When we think of carrots, we usually say carrots are long, thin and orange. But carrots are in many different sizes and shapes. And not all carrots are orange. Sometimes we have green carrots with yellow inside.

    Carrots should be planted in the sand. The soil also should have no rocks.
