An associate professor at Beijing Normal University has {#blank#}1{#/blank#}(expect) gone viral on the popular Chinese video platform Bilibili. The certified account has now amassed nearly 1.5 million followers in {#blank#}2{#/blank#} matter of days after {#blank#}3{#/blank#}(upload)the "Introduction to Social Sciences" course.

The unlikely rise {#blank#}4{#/blank#} fame began when a student shared a simple invitation flyer {#blank#}5{#/blank#}(hand) out by Chen. The flyer advertised the online course as "free, with no grades, homework, Q&A sessions or exams — just come {#blank#}6{#/blank#} you want to learn."

Chen's sincere {#blank#}7{#/blank#} fuss-free approach seemed to resonate. By March 28, over 5,000 people were simultaneously viewing his lectures at peak hours. The most popular video {#blank#}8{#/blank#}(surpass) 4.2 million views so far.

"My ability is limited, {#blank#}9{#/blank#} I try to be down-to-earth. Perhaps students are drawn to that," Chen reflected. He revealed spending over 5-6 years preparing the course content before finally recording {#blank#}10{#/blank#} over 3 months starting on New Year's Day.

With amazing Christmas lights and some very special guests, Pallion Action Group kicked off the festive season in style after another year of giving much-needed support to theSunderland community.

"We've got wreath making, our singers and dancers and, of course, a visit from Santa.This event brings out so much enthusiasm in the community,"said organizer Karen Noble."We'll also go and surprise anyone we know who's going to be lonely at Christmas."

Pallion has been at the heart of the community here since 1993, but the past couple of years have seen people increasingly struggling financially and feeling lonely. "This time last year, people were in great poverty,"said Karen. "But if we've done our job properly, they've become more financially resilient(可迅速恢复的) or less lonely and we should be helping different people this year. And a lot of those who were helped last year are volunteering for us now. People are so kind—we get loads of homemade thank-you cards. But I think the biggest thanks we get is knowing we've helped somebody to the point where they're independent and getting on with life."

Ten years ago I adopted my dog Rudy from a shelter just days before they were going to euthanize (使安乐死) him. We've had a special1 ever since.

A grocery store in Ann Arbor, Michigan opened on Tuesday to the public. This is an artist's uneatable creation. The Plastic Bag Store presents shelves filled with items such as meat, eggs, cakes and so on, all of which are made from single-use plastics taken from streets and garbage.

The store at times during the day will be transformed into a stage for a series of short films in which puppetry(木偶戏表演), shadow play, and handmade sets are used to tell a story of how the overabundance of plastic waste we leave behind might be misinterpreted by future generations—and how what we value least may become our most lasting "cultural legacy (遗产)".

Theater and film director Robin Frohardt is the creative driving force behind the Plastic Bag Store. "I got the idea many years ago after watching someone bag and double-bag and triple-bag my groceries," Frohardt said on Tuesday. "I just was sort of struck by how much packaging was involved in our everyday lives. And it just seemed so unreasonable. I just thought, maybe I could set up a project to change it." Combining a real-life supermarket with film experience, Frohardt planned to use art and humor to question our culture of consumption and convenience and to show one of the greatest problems of our planet.

Plastic bags are created by fossil (化石) fuels and often end up as waste in landfills and the ocean. Americans throw away 100 billion plastic grocery bags per year. She hopes that she can continue to tour with the project and bring it to different communities. "My dream would be that this project will become unnecessary one day," said Frohardt.

 "Frohardt's work reminds us, with humor, to think not just about the next two weeks, but also about the next two decades and the next two centuries. What will remain hundreds of years later? We hope that our legacy will be plays rather than piles of plastics," said Tim Tompkins, President of Times Square Alliance.
