The mobile phone is a useful thing, but maybe I don't know {#blank#}1{#/blank#} to use it. Sometimes it makes things difficult for me.

    One day I wanted to see my friend nearby. I could {#blank#}2{#/blank#}athis house in five minutes, but I thought it would be better to{#blank#}3{#/blank#}him up. I rang him for the first time, {#blank#}4{#/blank#} the line was busy.

    Five minutes later, there was an answer, but it was the wrongnumber. Then I tried {#blank#}5{#/blank#} and this time I got an answer from him. I  {#blank#}6{#/blank#} him if he was at home in the afternoon. And he said he would be at home all afternoon. So I went to his house, but then I found {#blank#}7{#/blank#} in. I called him for the fourth time. This time I got   {#blank#}8{#/blank#}angry that I said, “You are not at home? But you just told me over the telephone that you would be at home all afternoon!”

    Here was his {#blank#}9{#/blank#}, “No, I said: I will NOT be at home all afternoon.”

    I went back to my room. What{#blank#}10{#/blank#}could I do? Nothing!

    Last {#blank#}1{#/blank#} (圣诞节) Day, when I was at the street {#blank#}2{#/blank#} （角落）, a car {#blank#}3{#/blank#} （经过） by. The car stopped in front of me. A woman looked out of the car and asked me {#blank#}4{#/blank#} （有礼貌地）, "Excuse me, could you tell me the right direction to the  station?" Oh, my god! She was my old classmate. She used to be a shy girl. She didn't {#blank#}5{#/blank#}（敢于）to speak in {#blank#}6{#/blank#} （公众）. But her English was good and she did well in the {#blank#}7{#/blank#} （发音） and the {#blank#}8{#/blank#} （语法）. I {#blank#}9{#/blank#} （羡慕） her very much. Finally we had a happy {#blank#}10{#/blank#} （谈话） and I told her the way to the station.

    A school newspaper The Teens asked over one thousand teenagers how they {#blank#}1{#/blank#}their spare time. Here they report the result of the survey.

    Physic activity was popular among both girls{#blank#}2{#/blank#} boys, averaging（平均） between three to six hours a week. Favourite sports among girls were tennis, basketball and swimming. {#blank#}3{#/blank#} said they liked football, basketball and skating.

    Speaking of entertainment, music and TV were popular. About half of those teenagers who were surveyed said that music was {#blank#}4{#/blank#} favourite activity. This included both listening to and playing music. TV was also very popular. Three quarters said they preferred watching TV to {#blank#}5{#/blank#} a book or magazine.

    Unexpectedly（出乎意料地）, as many as three out of ten teenagers mentioned{#blank#}6{#/blank#} collecting things was something they liked to do in their spare time. They had various（各种各样的） collections from cartoon books and baseball cards {#blank#}7{#/blank#} stickers, toys and coins.

    Visiting friends was also{#blank#}8{#/blank#}. Nine out of ten said they contacted friends through the Internet. Another popular way of contacting friends {#blank#}9{#/blank#} the telephone. Everyone we surveyed said they spoke to friends every day. Most said they spoke about twenty minutes {#blank#}10{#/blank#} day. Surprisingly, teenagers seldom went dancing, especially girls.

    The survey showed that most teens said they wanted more free time for after-school activities.
