    My 14-year-old brother John and I saw the coat at the same time. The thick black woolen coat was soft, and it cost only ＄28. When my mother told this to one of his teachers, he said, "It must be his coat!" One day, in the library, my brother and I ran into a friend. "Could this be John?" he asked. John s{#blank#}9{#/blank#} hands with him, like a gentleman(绅士)!

    I think John changed b{#blank#}10{#/blank#} of his own attitude(态度). If you think you are a gentleman or a lady, you can become a perfect one.

    In a small house lived a poor man. He had two children Valentine and Mary. One winter evening, Valentine and Mary were staying at home. Then a tap (轻敲) was heard on the window. The poor child walked to Valentine and Mary. He broke a branch (树枝) from a tree near the house and planted it in the{#blank#}8{#/blank#}(花园). "I am the little Christ child," he said. "You took me in and cared for me. You are good children and I {#blank#}9{#/blank#}(欣赏) you. This branch shall become a tree and bring you fruit year by year."
