初中英语新目标九年级Unit 12 Life is full of the unexpected.单元检测题(含完整音频)

信息归纳: 阅读下面短文,并根据短文内容完成下面的信息卡。

Here is a story of a dog. It saved his owner, Audrey Stone, who was a lady and had poor vision (视力).

Figo, an eight-year-old dog, is Audrey Stone's third service dog. "He protects me and loves me. We are friends," Stone said.

On a Monday, Stone and Figo were on their way back from their "usual daily walk". When they prepared to cross a street, "I gave him the order to cross the street," Stone said.

"I said, 'Forward.' And we were in the middle of the street and it happened so quickly, but people said he just jumped at the school bus and saved me," Stone said.

The school bus was carrying two children to a learning center. Luckily they were not injured. Stone said she didn't remember much of the accident, but one image (画面) stayed with her: a wounded Figo staying by her side, holding up his wounded right paw (爪子).

"I knew he was hurt," she continued. "I remember Figo standing there, looking at me, trying to get close to me, but he didn't know what to do. Because he knew I was hurt." Figo had an operation (手术) on his right front leg. Figo's vet (兽医) said his leg was getting better.

Stone said she was sure of one thing, "I'd have been sad if he had got killed." But, she added, they both lived to tell the story.

In class, your teachers will talk about topics that you are studying. The information they provide will be important for you when you take tests. So you must take good notes from what your teachers say.

Here are the three stages(阶段)of taking notes and what you should do during each stage.

    1. Before Class

Review your notes you have taken before you come to class. This will be good for remembering what was covered. Get you ready to understand new information your teacher will provide.

    2. During Class

Keep your attention on what your teacher is saying and “the signal words” that tell you, what your teacher is going to say and it is important to write in your notes. Examples of signal words are “The most important point…” and “Remember that…” Be sure to include the information that your teacher repeats or writes on the blackboard. Write quickly so that you can include all the important information in your notes. Do this by writing abbreviations(缩略词)such as med for medicine, using symbols such as % for percent, and writing short sentences.

    3. After Class

Rewrite your notes to make them more complete and accurate(准确的)by changing abbreviations into whole words, symbols into words, and shortened sentences into longer sentences. Use them to answer your questions. If necessary, ask your teacher for help.

Everyone needs friends. They are very important because friends bring us happiness and hope in our lives. But the ability to make friends changes from person to person. To some people, making friends is not hard, and to others it's very difficult. Making friends is a skill, and the first thing is to know how to get on with others. If you have trouble in making friends, maybe I can tell you how to do it.

a)Realize your own good points. You have skills and talents(才能) that others will like.

b)Believe that you are a good person and have something nice to share with others.

c)Be humorous. Learn to laugh at yourself and your weakness. Remember to smile at others.

I've always wanted to try rock climbing, but never had the time or money for it. But I've discovered a way to experience the thrill(兴奋,紧张)of climbing rock, without climbing real rock. Indoor climbing is an easy and exciting way to get a taste of rock climbing. And it is also much cheaper and safer!Indoor climbers don't climb on real rock, but on a plastic wall. You can probably find a climbing wall near you. Many gyms, schools and camps have one.

You can climb indoors at any time of the year, no matter how the weather is. It is usually not expensive. Most gyms provide the equipment you need. The convenience of indoor climbing is one reason why it has become so popular. But the main reason people climb is for the rush(刺激感)they get. When I stand at the foot of the wall and look up. I'm always scared, But once I start climbing, fear changes to determination. With my heart pounding(怦怦地跳), I reach the top and look down. I can't stop grinning(咧嘴笑). I did it!

Indoor climbing is a great workout. Climbing uses muscles that are hard to exercise, especially those in the shoulders, arms, chest and back. Many people say climbing makes exercise fun. Most gyms have several climbing walls with various degrees of difficulty. The easier ones are like climbing a ladder. The difficult ones bulge out(凸出)in places so that climbers must sometimes climb parallel(平行的)with the floor.

Although gym climbing is easier and safer than real rock climbing, you should still be careful. Always climb with a partner. As you climb, your partner pulls your climbing rope through something called a belay device(绳索控制器). The belay catches you if you slip. But make sure your partner know how to use this equipment. And if you are a first-time climber, get some instruction before you begin.
