Dear Dennis,

    We just want to say thank you for having us before we caught the plane last week. It was a nice evening, and we enjoyed {#blank#}1{#/blank#} Pete and Sarah. With your help we were able to get to the airport with plenty of time. We often tried to get an {#blank#}2{#/blank#} flight than usual, but it wasn't possible.

    We had {#blank#}3{#/blank#} holiday in Spain. We just loved driving {#blank#}4{#/blank#} the countryside, and we often {#blank#}5{#/blank#} to walk round a mountain village. We met {#blank#}6{#/blank#} friends, Bill and Sue, and they invited us to have a meal with them. They wanted us to stay with them, {#blank#}7{#/blank#} we couldn't, as we had already booked two {#blank#}8{#/blank#} in a hotel.

    The weather was nice. There {#blank#}9{#/blank#} so much beautiful sunshine all the time we were there. Leaving Spain was very sad. It made me want to cry.

     My name is Michael and I'm 13 years old. My birthday is in autumn. Every year, my parents celebrate it {#blank#}1{#/blank#} me. This year, I forgot it because I was very busy with an {#blank#}2{#/blank#}.But my parents didn't. They wanted to give me a surprise, so they {#blank#}3{#/blank#} for it on their own. When I {#blank#}4{#/blank#} home that day, I saw a big birthday cake on the table. I didn't know what was happening at first, but {#blank#}5{#/blank#} I saw the birthday card for me. I was both {#blank#}6{#/blank#} and happy. I gave each of my parents a kiss and said "Thank you" to them.

    Then they gave me a box. I {#blank#}7{#/blank#} it and wondered what was in it. I quickly opened the cover of it and saw a CD about a flute（长笛）in the box. My parents knew I really liked to {#blank#}8{#/blank#} the flute, so they bought it for me {#blank#}9{#/blank#} telling me. I was very happy. It wasn't because of the present, but the love from my parents. {#blank#}10{#/blank#} my parents always asked me not to do this or that, I knew they loved me. I thought that was the best present for me.

    One day, an 11-year-old boy, Robby, came into my classroom for his first piano lesson. Over the {#blank#}1{#/blank#}, he tried very hard to learn the pieces, while I listened and encouraged him. However, he was not good at {#blank#}2{#/blank#} the piano.

    At the end of each week, he would always say ,"My mom is going to hear me play on the stage some day, "Then one day Robby {#blank#}3{#/blank#} coming to my lessons. I thought he gave up learning the piano.

    Several weeks {#blank#}4{#/blank#} our school planned to hold a concert. To my surprise, Robby came and asked {#blank#}5{#/blank#} he could be in it. He said his mother had been sick and unable to afford his piano lessons, but he was still practicing. I agreed to let {#blank#}6{#/blank#} play.

    Robby was the last to play at the concert. He chose a Mozart's piece. {#blank#}7{#/blank#} six and a half minutes, he ended. In tears, I ran up to hug Robby. " I've {#blank#}8{#/blank#} heard you play like that, Robby! {#blank#}9{#/blank#} did you do it? Robby explained, "Well, in fact my mother had cancer, but she comes here today. So tonight is the {#blank#}10{#/blank#} time that she has ever heard me play on the stage. I wanted to make it special".
