Of the three major drinks of the world—tea, coffee and cocoa—tea is consumed by the {#blank#}1{#/blank#} (large) number of people.

    China is the homeland of tea. Human cultivation of tea plants dates back to two thousand years ago. Tea from China, along {#blank#}2{#/blank#}her silk and porcelain, began to be known to the world more than a thousand years ago and since then it{#blank#}3{#/blank#} (be) an important Chinese export.

    At present more than forty countries in the world grow tea with Asian countries，{#blank#}4{#/blank#}  (produce) 90% of the world's total output. All tea trees in other countries have their origin directly or indirectly in China. The word for tea leaves or tea as{#blank#}5{#/blank#} drink in many countries are derivatives(衍生物)from the Chinese character “cha”. The Russians call it “cha'i”, {#blank#}6{#/blank#}sounds like “chaye”(tea leaves) as it is pronounced in northern China, and the English word “tea” sounds similar to the pronunciation of{#blank#}7{#/blank#} (it) counterpart（对应物） in Xiamen. The Japanese character for tea is written{#blank#}8{#/blank#} (exact) the same as it is in Chinese, though{#blank#}9{#/blank#} (pronounce) with a slight difference. The habit of tea drinking spread to Japan in the 6th century, but it was not introduced to Europe and America till the 17th and 18th centuries. Now the number of tea{#blank#}10{#/blank#} (drink) in the world is still on the increase.

    This summer I travelled from noisy Beijing to Wuzhen, a beautiful village in Zhejiang Province. Unfolded before me was{#blank#}1{#/blank#}unique image of this water country—the stone bridge and the water flowing, all like fairy tales to me.

    However{#blank#}2{#/blank#} impressed me most was not the natural scenery but the scene of a grandma bathing a little baby in a wooden basin with the door open. My friends couldn't help{#blank#}3{#/blank#}(take) pictures of them. To my surprise, the grandma smiled and waved at us. All of a sudden, my heart was filled with {#blank#}4{#/blank#} (warm).

    I shared the photo and my{#blank#}5{#/blank#} (forget) experience with my friends. They were {#blank#}6{#/blank#}(simple) moved as I was, but at the same time they reminded me of the unpleasant experiences in big cities. We feel embarrassed to see people quarreling in public because they{#blank#}7{#/blank#} (step) on accidentally by strangers.

    According to a recent survey{#blank#}8{#/blank#} (make) in November 2016: 45 percent of the residents don't know the names of their neighbors; 63 percent have never devoted{#blank#}9{#/blank#} (they) to talking to their neighbors; 67 percent think that the relationship between them and their neighbors is just so-so, or even bad.

    Wouldn't it be beautiful to say hello to our neighbors who just came back {#blank#}10{#/blank#}work give them a smile?

    Lasa Bailey took her gloves off when {#blank#}1{#/blank#}(take)her dog for a long walk on a winter day and didn't notice anything until that evening. She was shocked when she realized her beautiful anniversary ring was missing. She {#blank#}2{#/blank#}(hurry)back to look for it but couldn't find anything. Her husband kept going on a website where people sell jewelry,{#blank#}3{#/blank#} never found it.

    All that changed, however, thanks to a recent Facebook post {#blank#}4{#/blank#}(write)on their local police department's page. A woman police officer posted, "If anybody knows of anybody losing a diamond ring, please contact us." One of her friends read it and wrote on it "Lisa Bailey".

    The police station happened to find some unidentified {#blank#}5{#/blank#}(jewel)in a local pawn shop (当铺) and took them away. When Bailey learned from her friend that her ring might {#blank#}6{#/blank#}(find), she couldn't believe it.

    The police called Bailey and asked her to describe it. She sent a picture of it to {#blank#}7{#/blank#} and then they asked if she could come to the police station. When the police officer in the station {#blank#}8{#/blank#} had written the Facebook post handed her the ring the next day  she was very thrilled and started to tear up. She could wear her anniversary ring home where it belongs {#blank#}9{#/blank#} (final) after three years' wait.

    Bailey's husband had offered to replace the ring after it went {#blank#}10{#/blank#} (miss), but she refused because she thought it wouldn't be the same.

    When Sandra was a child, her family was very poor, but she wanted {#blank#}1{#/blank#} (bad) to believe that her poverty was just a temporary situation, so she looked toward stories {#blank#}2{#/blank#} (escape). Her favorite book {#blank#}3{#/blank#} (check) out of the library over and over again was called The little house. Throughout Sandra's life, she had to move between cities, never {#blank#}4{#/blank#} (allow) her much time to get settled in one place. Her {#blank#}5{#/blank#} (separate) from family drove her to burying herself in books. Though reading a lot, according to Sandra, she didn't really start writing {#blank#}6{#/blank#} she attended her first creative writing class in college. She then realized that she needed to write what she knew, and {#blank#}7{#/blank#} purpose she adopted a writing style opposite to that of her classmates. Admission to Loyola University {#blank#}8{#/blank#} she earned a BA in English was a turning point for her. Sandra's writing {#blank#}9{#/blank#} (shape) by her experiences since then. She doesn't just make up {#blank#}10{#/blank#} (character), but writes about real people that she has encountered.
